For normal people, this would seem to be a self-destructive act. Obviously, if you antagonize enough voters, you won’t be re-elected and, hopefully, all the harm you’ve done will be undone in the first weeks of the new administration.

However, all bets are off with Obama and his posse of clowns as they do not seem to be normal people.

However, all bets are off with Obama and his posse of clowns as they do not seem to be normal people.

"Nixon couldn't have won. No-one I knew voted for him." - Attributed to Pauline Kael on the night of Nixon's 1972 landslide victory.

Actually, what's afflicting them isn't that abnormal after all. They really believe their we-know-what-the-people-want b.s., and they're part of a mutual admiration society. Put both together and you've got a fertile field for groupthink.

Add to that the chumminess of the GOP-e. Thanks to GOP-e "civility," those people inhabit a bubble world where reality testing is optional. Moreover, calling the real opposition a bad name is so much easier than fact-checking! The latter might upset their tofu-graced stomachs.

It's as simple as that. Thanks to their echo chamber, they likely don't know that they're antagonizing enough people to get them booted out.
