DURHAM, N.H. (CBS) An anonymous donor has agreed to pay a New Hampshire towns extra security costs for President Barack Obamas visit on Monday.
Durham officials say they didnt mean to raise a ruckus, but they didnt have the money budgeted for police, fire and EMS services needed for President Obamas visit, and the Obama for America campaign said they wouldnt pay.
Some people are very positive about the position that the town has taken to date, and others have been very critical. Some have expressed it as being un-American the position we have taken, others feel it is the right thing to do, and campaigns, whoever the party, whatever the party, should pay the costs associated with the visit, said Durham Town Manager Todd Selig.
Town Council Chair Jay Gooze says a local resident has stepped up to the plate.
An anonymous donor, a Durham resident, contacted the town administrator and council chair, and offered to pay for town public safety costs up to $20,000. The donor wanted us to make public his or her sentiment that the town had done the right thing in asking the campaign to do its part, said Gooze.
Officials said the donor craves privacy, and just felt this was the right thing to do.
We are grateful for this generous offer, said Gooze.
Collecting all the forks in town sure adds up.
That crap about giving wedding gifts is bogus - then again if dems can find one person to do it, the MSM will run with it like it's Christmas... that, they'll notice.
Slackers and grifters never want to pay.
Forks?
Curious that Obama for America wouldn't pay. Maybe they get used to stiffing communities in 2008 with expenses like these and don't expect to have to change in 2012.
This raises an interesting point. Who pays for security for Romney?
How many times has some small town or city ponied up tens of thousands for Obama’s campaign fundraiser security?
I sense a hidden cash flow of several hundred thousand here, paid for by citizens through local taxes.
This local benefactor just underlined the whole money issue.
What if the town said NO! What would State Sponsored Media do?
Contribution Limits
An individual may give a maximum of:
$2,500 per election to a Federal candidate or the candidate’s campaign committee.
Source (Federal Election Commission): http://www.fec.gov/pages/brochures/citizens.shtml#how_much
If this is a campaign cost - as the town claims - does this run afoul of individual contributor limits?
I bet the FEC will be right on THAT.

Those Egyptian moslems know which side their bread is buttered on....So to speak...
He won’t be allowed to stay anonymous for long.
Qhy isn’t a campaign responsible for all these extra costs???
Asking the big eared Kenyan to pay is RACIST!!!
Where have you *been* for the last 4 years?
LOL
Actually, saddling the town's taxpayers with a huge bill to benefit the mooching moslem/communist/packer would be "un-American".
Live Free or Die!
I'm sure our ever alert media is working on IDing the guy right now.
“I bet the FEC will be right on THAT.”
Suuuuure they will, just like they got right on these guys.

“Liberal elites support Obama - they’ve got the money. That’s what’s happening here. Some uber rich guy is funding Obama.”
With all due respect, I think you may be wrong on this one - the donor said he wanted it to be known that the community did the right thing by asking the BHO campaign to pay this cost.
I think this donor may have been trying to make it right with the town and hopes it becomes known that the BHO campaign were pikers and tried to stiff them.
