I was in the Navy a long time ago, but isn't Master Chief almost always a desk job? If you wanted to actually continue doing your job, you would not accept promotion to Master Chief. I could be wrong, but that's how I remember it.

I was in the Navy a long time ago, but isn't Master Chief almost always a desk job? My last patrol I was MPA as a Lieutenant. I had an E7 Chief and a Master Chief in the MM division!
That should have been my easiest patrol but I remember working my tail off. The Master Chief used to go outside of maneuvering and do one armed push ups.
