He’s describing an America that disappeared around 1980. I don’t see it ever coming back. If she’d have so much as swung at one of the little miscreants, she’d be in jail right now. And you and I know it.

Hmm...we didn’t have bus monitors. But there was a pecking order on the bus. I don’t know for certain but I think the principal knew about it — allow one bully to sit in the back, have a whole seat if he wanted, and he’d settle disputes that arose.

The only parent I heard quoted on this was a dad who said his kid had been sufficiently punished by public ridicule. It was the familiar “Kids will be kids” defense. Frankly, I was amazed the kid had a dad at all. (But maybe it was really just Mom’s boyfriend using the title.)

The plain truth is if that woman had in any way defended herself physically (as if she could have done that at all!), she either would have been brutally assaulted by that group of devils or thrown in jail. Personally, I found her stoic behavior to be rather saintly.

And if one of the other kids had physically confronted these pukes, that kid would have been suspended for at least a week.

I suspect the REASON WHY they did it, and made a video of it, was to provoke her into hitting one of them. That way, there would have been a big pay day when their parents sued the school.

I would not be surprised if their parents put them up to it.

The kids know it, too. I've hears of cases in which kids threaten to call Child Protective Services if they don't get their way.

Discipline did disappear in the 80’s.
IMHO it started during the Day-Care sex abuse hysteria
(remember those?- all unfounded)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Day-care_sex-abuse_hysteria

What came about from those trials and reports (month after month....years)was a complete shift from adult supervision to government supervision. Kids are now completely ‘off limits’ and instant wards of the state.

Parents, teachers and adults became the potential abusers of the ‘precious’ children....legally. Discipline was ‘legally’ stripped from all but the government.

There were movements before the trials and accusations where people would not discipline their precious ones - but it was a lifestyle choice....after the day-care witch hunts - it became government edict.

Kids were most likely happier in the America that existed before 1980. Today, one never sees children outdoors, and when they are, they are always accompanied by adults.

He’s describing an America that disappeared around 1960’s.

People of Woodstock era had kids and it never got better.

“He’s describing an America that disappeared around 1980. I don’t see it ever coming back”

Of course you’re right.

That “traditional America” of the recent past is gradually disappearing behind us, in many places. Once gone, it will be all-but impossible to restore.

The only cultural “restoration” possible for traditional-minded Euro-Americans will be to “escape” — to flee to those remaining portions of America where they can re-segregate themselves into “conservative homelands” and re-establish a culture that is reminiscent of, say, the early 1950’s.

Think of it as a cultural version of “Going Galt”...
