From what I’ve been able to glean from other sources, the kid overthrew the pitcher, which would put her at a picnic table behind the pitcher’s end of the bullpen. Not the best place to encourage people to sit I guess.
Presumably, she has no health insurance or they refused coverage (a big presumption, but it makes sense given that she’s seeking recompense elsewhere), so she’s stuck with the tab for the re-constructive surgery. She attempted to negotiate with the insurance company involved (again, assuming it was the League’s insurance company), but they said, “hey, not our problem”. The League itself is saying the same thing. Now it might not be right to sue the kids family, but it sure makes financial sense.
Well, if the insurance company paid then THEY might go after the kid, IF they thought they could collect. I’m just not sure how liable a child is for an errant toss.
