AFAIK, about 250 Turkish-built F-16s are backbone of their airforce. F-4s are used for strike roles.

If a plane goes down for any reason, there's always some muslim standing around claiming he shot it down.
Maybe they did maybe they didn't.

Turkey is a NATO ally, they could theoretically invoke the treaty.

that NATO thingy ... now we go to red alert or have more popcorn? Either way or not either way could one say that Turkey (of a plane) was cooked? Has anyone confirmed this is not a ruse or false flag? Can we trust our media to tell us the truth?

“Turkey is a NATO ally, they could theoretically invoke the treaty.”
Well, as soon as it shot over Syrian waters it is hardly an attack against a NATO country.
To: Shadow44
I suspect they would have trouble invoking the treaty if the Turkish plane was over Syria.

If this turns out to be true, could be HUGE!! Turks are not to be messed with; unknown what side their current Islamic leader will take, but I bet the military is looking to kick serious ass right now. If Turks fully side with rebels in Syria, Assad is toast.

Assad has really done it now. The Turks are about to deliver a beating on him. Remember Assad the Elder gave haven to Kurdish armed groups in northern Syria until the Turks decided to send their army into Syria and taught him a lesson.

This is now a pretext for NATO intervention.
We'll see if Zero comes to the aid of his good friend Erdogan.
