“Polygamy and gay marriage or homosexuality are equality evil and sinful to God...”
Really? So all of those people in the Old Testament were sinners and the Bible’s references to them are also sinful?

All ya gotta do, Megan, is read about Jacob's household to realize the "sinners" part (Jacob was deceived into marrying sisters Rachel and Leah...he thought on his marriage night he was sleeping with Rachel; but his father-in-law had dumped Leah there):
30 When Rachel saw that she was not bearing Jacob any children, she became jealous of her sister. So she said to Jacob, Give me children, or Ill die!
2 Jacob became angry with her and said, Am I in the place of God, who has kept you from having children?
3 Then she said, Here is Bilhah, my servant. Sleep with her so that she can bear children for me and I too can build a family through her.
4 So she gave him her servant Bilhah as a wife. Jacob slept with her, 5 and she became pregnant and bore him a son.
That competitive rivalry with a guy sleeping with four women went on -- after each woman gave him their servants to sleep with Jacob...(You're not claiming that is "Biblical" or God-honoring, are you???)
The two "wives" even started treating Jacob as a gigolo: 14 During wheat harvest, Reuben went out into the fields and found some mandrake plants, which he brought to his mother Leah. Rachel said to Leah, Please give me some of your sons mandrakes. 15 But she said to her, Wasnt it enough that you took away my husband? Will you take my sons mandrakes too? Very well, Rachel said, he can sleep with you tonight in return for your sons mandrakes. 16 So when Jacob came in from the fields that evening, Leah went out to meet him. You must sleep with me, she said. I have hired you with my sons mandrakes. So he slept with her that night. (Genesis 30)
***********
Moving on from Genesis 30, let's look at what Solomon already knew by his teen years as far as what God's will on marriage was:
17 He must not take many wives, or his heart will be led astray. (Deut. 17:17)
He had seven hundred wives of royal birth and three hundred concubines, and his wives led him astray. 4 As Solomon grew old, his wives turned his heart after other gods, and his heart was not fully devoted to the LORD his God... (1 Kings 11:3-4)
So...Megan...did you just erase Deut. 17:17 from your Bible????
And, another follow-up:
You will look, Megan, in vein, to find where God directed Abraham or Jacob to take up additional wives in the Genesis time period...(Even with Abraham sleeping with his wife's servant, God, Moses, Abraham, the Angel of the Lord, and Paul NEVER reference this sleep-over woman as his "wife"...only his original wife did...and what authority did she have???)
Actually, you'll find the monogamy model in Genesis 2:24: 24 That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh. (Jesus reiterated this in Matthew 19)
One flesh, Megan. You don't think "sister wives" -- "married" to the same polygamous man -- constitute a "one flesh" pattern, do you? Do you think "sister wives" are "one flesh???" Really??? (And wouldn't that open the door to endorsing lesbian "marriage"???)
Of course, beyond Genesis, there are other polygamists. Most of them, with perhaps the exception of David and Caleb, weren't noted for righteousness. And even David committed adultery and manslaughter -- and yes, he was a "sinner" who needed forgiveness (see Psalm 51).
Additionally, when posters want to somehow to present what I call "pious polygamy," they somehow manage to mention a few Old Testament characters, but somehow fail to mention all the thousands of pagan polygamists within history!!!!
King Mongut of Siam (Thailand) is said to perhaps be the polygamist record-holder with 9,000 wives...his female counterpart, Berber Queen Kahina, had 400 husbands. Other conqueror types, like Ghengis Khan and Attila the Hun, don't seem to make a "who's who in polygamy list" either...Why not?
So were these pagans practicing "pious" "plural marriage," Megan???
And just because the Bible references something, doesn't mean God endorses it as a widespread institution. For example, God even directed Hosea to take a prostitute wife, Gomer...she happened to continue her...how shall we say it? "Cottage industry" post-marriage and had children...
You're not claiming that just because the Bible references this, that you would recommend to your children and grandchildren to go out and marry prostitutes who keep that cottage industry going, are you???
