WASHINGTON (AP) A U.S. military investigation is recommending that as many as seven U.S. troops face administrative punishments, but not criminal charges, in the burning of Qurans at a U.S. base in Afghanistan in February, The Associated Press has learned.
U.S. military officials said the classified report and recommendations for disciplinary action against the service members involved were delivered to the Pentagon more than a week ago. They have been turned over to the Army and Navy secretaries. No final decisions have been made.
According to the officials, one Navy service member and as many as six Army soldiers could face nonjudicial disciplinary actions, which can range from a letter in their file to docking their pay or assigning them additional duties.

Discipline? WTF?? These heroes should be awarded medals and commendations.
If I were one of these troops, I would refuse the administrative punishment. That forces the command to either charge me under UCMJ or drop the action. When I was in the service in the ‘80s I did exactly that and the action was dropped.
BULLSHIT........
So now our soldiers are punished for burning the book that tells the muslims to kill them. That makes sense...sure it does.
Meanwhile the Pentagon is planning Gay Pride events.....
I’m glad I was forced to retire from the military at age 60 earlier this year before this gay pride month hit.
Consider how difficult it is now to be a service chief. On the one hand, your service has been your life. On the other hand, you have a POS, communist CinC who hates the military.
What happened to this country? :(
Never when I was growing up did I EVER think I’d be facing this. :(
Freedom of speech!!!
Seems to me that this Administration is treating the different groups of those who serve differently. The military is treated differently than other branches.
When individuals in the Justice Department get caught in anything that can embarrass the leadership, they get rewarded by promotion or pension (to shut them up?). But those in the military, who also serve under this President, get punished.
Desecrating Korans, sheesh..! Scary..!
These military guys are SO stupid —they should instead have killed two badged US officers and 200 Mexicans:
THEN they could have gotten of (so far) scott free..!
Other thing to avoid at all legal costs: steroids.
You will hereby write on the blackboard 100x. “I will never burn that piece of sh!t, the Koran, again.”
Political correctness.
Actually, it is a beautiful book, full of poetry and fanciful stories designed to help lead those people.
The filthy dirty part is that parts that are like AMENDMENTS to the CONSTITUTION, except there is no 'vote' taken. Those parts are kept separate. Those parts are from generations of Mullahs who scribed (to make it moral and legal) these 'rules' to allow them to do anything to stay in power, and anything to satiate their 'lust'.
(Much like our current politicians are doing)
There isn't a big difference between the history parts of the Koran and the Bible. They were built from the same foundation.
Greek Mythology had Pegasus, Mohammed rode away on a winged black horse, and Jesus will fly in from heaven on a white horse.
In ISLAM, the religious leaders (who were just vagabond thieves trying to move up the ranks) made themselves THE GOVERNMENT and GOD.
(again, much like our politicians here)
It is the Mullahs proclamations that incite the violence in the followers of the Koran. It is not the Koran itself. But to keep the people from seeing how the Mullahs are living like Gods while the masses suffer, The Mullahs give the people someone else to blame. (one more time, much like our politicians do )
Heck, the Mullahs even have their 'followers' worshipping a charred meteorite.
I don't believe that GOD (aka Allah) asked them to worship a dumb rock.
So while you may object to the Koran, and wish it destroyed, remember that the people who tell you that terrorism is due to what's in the Koran, are the same one's who are telling you that you can't wear shirts with the word GOD on them, or use a Christian Prayer, or say Merry Christmas.
The Saudi state seizes privately owned bibles and other non-Islamic texts and burns them every year with no outrage from our Hate Department.
our military is full of lifers who don't want to spoil their good thing...
I am more and more adamant that we stop having lifetime service....no one should serve that long...they get too indebted to the benefit/pension package and they'll do anything to keep their job or get a promotion....
100% bull!
When wishing someone a Merry Christmas involves beheading then I’d want to ban that also.
Until then, your lovely koran (comic book for retards) still is not good for toilet paper as you cannot clean up crap with crap.
So essentially someone put them on a garbage burning detail but forgot to mention that they should double check what they were burning?
It is the officers who ordered the books to be burned, that should be punished, not the soldiers following the orders.
