I have to arise to the defense of cab drivers. I love to have extensive discussions with Chicago cab drivers and do so about thirty times a year. I have discussed religion, history, local and national issues.
They are independent and entrepreneur types even when non-owners of their medallion.
It is amazing what substance is covered. Many remember me and great me like an old friend after months of not seeing me.
Taxi-drivers certainly have more real-world nous than actors, but so too do long-distance truckers.
I suppose cabbies are easier to find for interview purposes. ;^)
