Boehner, Cantor Announce House Fast & Furious Contempt Vote Next Week Posted by Speaker Boehner Press Office June 20, 2012 Press Release
WASHINGTON, DC House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) and Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) issued the following statement after the House Oversight & Government Reform Committee approved a resolution holding Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt for his refusal to turn over subpoenaed documents related to the Fast & Furious operation:
Despite being given multiple opportunities to provide the documents necessary for Congress investigation into Fast and Furious, Attorney General Holder continues to stonewall. Today, the Administration took the extraordinary step of exerting executive privilege over documents that the Attorney General had already agreed to provide to Congress. Fast and Furious was a reckless operation that led to the death of an American border agent, and the American people deserve to know the facts to ensure that nothing like this ever happens again. While we had hoped it would not come to this, unless the Attorney General reevaluates his choice and supplies the promised documents, the House will vote to hold him in contempt next week. If, however, Attorney General Holder produces these documents prior to the scheduled vote, we will give the Oversight Committee an opportunity to review in hopes of resolving this issue.
Watch every voting Republican member like a hawk. Get ready to post the vote tally from the Thomas site often, when the time comes. Make sure that everyone sees it.
This will get past the House, but not the Senate. There’s the rub. It’s what Issa & Grassley do with it after the full Congressional vote that remains to be seen...
Michael Steele thinks Issa pushing this is not constructive at this time.
Squishy RINO’s will try to derail this because of “bad optics”.
Yep they got them all ready.
Since this is a move by the House of Representatives:
I am pretty sure that each & EVERY member of the House only has a 2 year term, and will be up for re-election in November this year.
The vote in committee was strictly along party lines: 23-17.
IMO, each Dem member of this committee is working to try & cover up things for Holder & Obama.
I think they should all be defeated in their districts in November.
i also would like to see charges brought because each and every member of Congress has to be sworn in with words to the effect:
“I will uphold the laws of the United States of America.”
BY TRYING to continue the Holder coverup, are these Dem members of the committee not violating the laws of the USA?
They are covering up for crimes & criminals.
GET THEM OUT OF CONGRESS!!!!!
They will only turn on O when they have a better model available.
This will get past the House, but not the Senate. Theres the rub. Its what Issa & Grassley do with it after the full Congressional vote that remains to be seen...
Obama goes Nixon, claims executive privilege on F&F
Senator Charles Grassley of Iowa notes that this means that Obama is claiming privilege for documents it has been claimed he never saw.
AP: The assertion of executive privilege raises monumental questions, Iowa Sen. Chuck Grassley said in a statement released Wednesday shortly after the presidents move. How can the President assert executive privilege if there was no White House involvement? How can the President exert executive privilege over documents hes supposedly never seen? Is something very big being hidden to go to this extreme? The contempt citation is an important procedural mechanism in our system of checks and balances. The questions from Congress go to determining what happened in a disastrous government program for accountability and so that its never repeated again.
Grassley is the ranking Republican on the Senate Judiciary Committee and has previously called a Justice Department investigation into the Fast and Furious gunrunning operation botched.

Does go to the Senate. He’s being voted on as Contempt of the house. Goes to prosecutor(apponted) or arrested by sargeant of arms (tried in House) or something similar
My understanding is that the Senate plays no role in this. It goes from the committee, to full house vote, to DC Federal Grand Jury for indictment and then jury trial.
Holder is toast.”””
‘The wheels of the bus go round and round!!!’
The next noise we all will hear is the thump—thump—thump of the bus wheels smashing over Holder!!!!
For such a wimpy guy, Barry sure can throw lots of people under the bus!! He must have learned that from Jack LaLane.
Yours is old news. I referred to what will or won’t come after the Senate vote.
Remember——Holder was #2 at Justice when Waco happened.
Holder pushed Janet Reno to go in & not wait out Koresch.
Koresch was out of the compound when he was under surveillance, getting groceries, etc, and ATF could have picked him up at any number of times.
That entire conflagration is entirely at the feet of Reno, Holder & Clinton, IMO.
No senate vote...Pinged you to a thread with good information on results.
This is *not* a delay. Where does this “delay” BS come from?? Today’s vote *happened on schedule,* Contempt passed the committee and now goes to the full House. That is what is next week. Full House vote. This is on track, not being delayed.
The attempt to use Executive Privilege failed, and in fact will backfire because now Obama has to argue he knew about it the whole time.
I don’t give a rat’s butt what Michael Steele ‘thinks’.
He ran the RNC into bad debt & has about as much ability to run anything beyond a lemonade stand as 2 —9 year old girls.
He can keep his trap shut, IMO.
He CANNOT.
Anything that was on the list of requested documentation has been claimed as protected by Executive Privelege.
If Holder passes along ANY of it, he is in violation of his own claim of Executive Privelege!
Claiming EP was a major bone-headed move.
