Bill Maher on Monday called the GOP the “Party of the Apes” and ripped Republicans for not repudiating Rep. Allen West — who, the comedian suggested, should be taken to a mental hospital.
“[T]he idea that the blame for our government’s dysfunction is equally shared by the parties just is a giant, steaming mound of horsesh*t and anyone who has paid attention to politics over the last 20 years knows it. Or as I like to call it, ‘The Rise of the Party of the Apes,’” the host of HBO’s “Real Time” wrote on his blog.
Maher singled out two politicians as extremists: West and Richard Mourdock, the Republican nominee for Senate who defeated longtime Sen. Dick Lugar in a primary last month.
“[T]ake Allen West. Seriously, take him to the padded cell and give him 20 CCs of the high test,” Maher wrote, noting West’s remark that some 80 House Democrats are Communists. “And not one Republican said, ‘Allen, come on. You’re making us look dumb.’ Not one of the Republican candidates for president said anything. Because in today’s Republican Party, that’s not even edgy anymore. They probably saw him later on and were like, ‘Word, Allen. Word.’ Because that’s how they think black people talk.”
As for the Tea Party–backed Mourdock, who said last month, “I certainly think bipartisanship ought to consist of Democrats coming to the Republican point of view,” Maher equated it with a relationship in which only one partner receives oral sex.

Allen’s statement was probably correct, but technically those 80 are socialists. They belong to the Democrat Socialists of America. Maybe some belong to the Communist Party USA but West was probably basing his comments on the DSA memberships.

In a (rather cynical) way, I am heartened to learn of Bill Maher’s most recent outburst. Those who have attempted to portray him as an equal-opportunity curmudgeon, just as happy to slam Democrats as he is to bash Republicans, may find this one especially hard to explain...
Syphilis or heavy drug use? In either case, the organic brain impairment that’s been obvious for a long time is now advancing rapidly.

The Republican Party is Socialist. The Democrat Party is Communist.
And many would agree.
Interesting you put it that way. I said in an earlier post on this subject that he (and those like him) makes the Dems seem like the party of the snakes by contrast . . .

Let him rant. This is liberalism on display folks, once you strip away the forced veneer of “caring for their fellow man”. Just an OWS guy who happened to get a TV gig by calling himself a “comedian”.
