A good grandpa is better than a bad dad.

I know from experience, My first husband had nothing to do with his three sons, but my father helped me raise them into fine young men. They all considered “Grandpa” to be their father figure. So did their friends.

As your sons and our grandson get older they will realize what treasures their grandfathers are. There are times I see glimpses of our grandson’s pain and I know if I sat down to cry over this, I would cry forever. I cannot imagine how the fathers live with themselves. Our grandson is so special. He has a kind and gentle heart, he is funny, so smart and talented. His father has missed all of this. Plus, he has missed all that love...and in the long run, it cost him the respect of his son. That was a high price to pay for being so self centered and selfish.
