My reasoning is that running mates matter little in the actual election, but a governor would be critical in close votes in swing states (as Jeb Bush was in FL in 2000 and Bob Taft was in OH in 2004). They can prevent a lot of mischief. I think that role is more important than the running-mate role.

Good point. But I should think that if we’re so lucky to get Walker as the GOP VP nominee, he wouldn’t need to give up his West Consin governorship until after the election. Therefore, he still should be able to restrain the Dhimmi vote fraudsters.
Alternatively, if Gov. Walker should resign pre-election, then presumably the Lt. Gov. — the very attractive Mrs. Kleefisch (sp?) — would be able to hold down the fort.
