you are correct (imho) of your assessment. Everyone has to have the oil for their economic engines to run. Everyone will show up for the oil. It was simply a matter of time and timing. Still, since I'm no expert, what is the down side of Russia supporting the Syrian regime, other than they support terrorists? The US will still trade with Russia, and they will still be on the Security Council of the UN (f**k the UN), and still have nuclear weapons.
So someone tell me why we should care if Syria remains status quo? Even if they have their "Arab Spring", how good will that be?
Personally, the only nation I give a sh*t about in that region is Israel. What ever it takes to protect a freedom -loving democratic ally is what the US should be about. Screw every sick Muslim nation in the area. I couldn't care less if they all find allah tomorrow, and yes, I mean ALL of them.
