Rubio changes all that. Rubio is a Tea Party favorite. He energizes the Tea Party. Rubio brings Tea Party voters to the polls in droves.

Not that I have seen as of late. And all Romney sees of the Tea Party is in his rear-view mirror as he stomps on the gas on his way back leftward for the general election.

No! We shouldn’t deal with identity politics and no to an Establishment Pet in Rubio! He is no conservative but is handsome and makes good speeches which some deem those attributes to be enough for high office. He has ties to the Bushes and Romneys for quite awhile and most of his legislative push is not even TeaParty like

Why do we want to win the open border Latino vote? I was hoping he would pick someone with a little more experience like Gingrich or a real conservative like Palin.

It’s the wrong game to get into for Romney, the whole immigration reform trap. On the other hand, he should be pressing Obama’s anti Christian policies, and building support among Hispanic Catholics. Romney should be pointing out that Americans want work, and can’t find it, while Obama encourages more illegal immigration. Romney should become the work candidate, the free speech candidate, and the religious freedom candidate, not the next idiot to get snared in the immigration reform trap. ...I like Rubio, though not on this issue, and I think he would be a good VP choice, but so would Allen West.

RE :”Obama believes he has “checked” Romney with Latino voters with his latest announcement. He will walk on the stage in Orlando to a thunderous hero’s welcome. He will discuss how Latino youth brought illegally to this country, through no fault of their own, will no longer have to lie awake at night fearing deportation to a strange country they no longer recognize. And he we will receive a standing ovation.
......
Mitt Romney must walk onto that same stage and upstage Obama. This is the place and time for the announcement of the year. Mitt Romney coolly steps up to the microphone and says, “It’s time for a Latino to join a Presidential ticket. It’s time for the fastest growing group in America to have a seat at the table of power. To have a voice in the White House. Today…right here…right now…I’m going to change the game…forever. Today you get your seat at the table. Today we change American politics…forever. Ladies and gentleman, allow me to introduce my Vice Presidential running mate United States Senator Marco Rubio.” Marco walks out to embrace Mitt Romney while the crowd stands, screams, and cheers! Tears stream down cheeks.

Romney's ‘self deportation’ position is history. He doesn't need the primary voters he fooled anymore.
I have no doubt Rubio is a good person and would help Romney with Hispanics but he never said a word while Romney was lying his way through the primary beating on Perry and Newt with his anti-amnesty positions, long gone now. Now rubio will join Romney so he can flip 180 degrees?

Romney has basically said he wants nothing to do with the conservative base. He refused to go to a single pro life or pro family event he was invited to. He made the statement conservatives will vote for him. He is wrong, many, many will never vote for him and the cherry on top is his arrogant attitude towards social conservative. People criticize conservatives, saying they are going to give the obama the win, but no one is blaming romney for refusing to acknowledge us. Besides the fact that he knows he can't attend our events, because he will have to answer why he says one thing (he's a conservative) then enacted legislation that was anti-conservative and then lies about it. Romney is starting out with a worse conservative record than obama did & we are told to trust him. You don't trust someone who has lied, cheated and stolen. My daughter-in-law and her family, supported McCain but said they will not support romney. They are not social conservatives, but thinks romney is a “gold-digger” and is more worried about money than anything. They think he represents the lobbiest and will continue what obama is doing. It's not just the social conservatives who don't like him, it's a lot of other people. They say they won't vote.

Little Marco is bought and paid for like nearly every other congressman in Washington. He recently voted to keep funding federal subsidies for Big Sugar.

How Romney Can Win the Presidency - This Week

Sheeeeyit. Romney can win The Presidency simply by maintaining a core body temperature of 98.6 degrees.

With the occasional temporary spike of 2 or 3 degrees.

Romney also needs to do the math and come up with the new unemployment numbers that 800,000 Mexicans will bring....8.7 to 9.0

Chess? This is NOT a GAME!

And yet there was Mr. RomneyCARE sacrificing Gov. Palin
as "his pawn".

"Peeking Out From the McCain Wreckage: Mitt Romney"

"Someone's got to say it: IS MITT ROMNEY RESPONSIBLE FOR OBAMA'S VICTORY?"

"Vanity: Team Romney Sabotaged Palin and Continuing to Do So?"

"Romney Supporters Trashing Palin"

"Romney advisors sniping at Palin?"

I say this with all the love and respect in the world. I don’t know which is more foolish, the article or the comments.

Romney would look like an idiot naming Rubio as VP early right after Obama granted amnesty, in what would be seen as an obvious move of weakness and desperation.

Everyone who touts Rubio (and I tout Rubio myself)forgets that if he is nominated, the democrats are going to go wild in an orgy of racist denunciation, try the Michael Steele election times ten. Rubio will be ridiculed as not a “real Hispanic” and the campaign will become all about Rubio.

As for the comments that Romney isn’t going to get the nomination? I’ll be merciful.

What Romney should have done is attack the decision with passion. He could have attacked how it was done and likened it to the way Obamacare was snuck through against teh nation’s wishes. He could contrast it with the way he will have a national discussion and ask Congress to hold hearings, etc.

Instead, Romney punted. He left all of us who care deeply about illegal immigration on the beach. I believe Romney is a clever cool customer, maybe he is right not to get sidetracked into an immigration debabte. But it’s not right for America. Except I can’t deny ridding us of Obama is very important.

If you play racial politics, you are playing on their turf. Best stick to economics and national defense - two subjects they know nothing whatsoever about.

Obama is perhaps the most divisive President in modern U.S. history.

I would remove the word, “perhaps,” from that statement.

Wrong reason to pick a VP. Thinking Rubio will bring over the latino vote is like thinking Clarence Thomas bringing over the black vote. We need to work tirelessly to DESTROY identity politics, not go along with the way dems have framed the arguement.

Very interesting article.

I really like Rubio but I thought sentiment had moved away from him because of the feeling that he is pro dream act.

He would add a lot of jazz to the ticket, but I’m not quite sure I agree with the writer’s assessment that Romney is white bread with... did he say mayonaisse? At least he didn’t say Miracle Whip (although I love Miracle Whip)

Romney doesn’t whip up a crowd with fiery rhetoric but neither does he pull any punches. I think he’s a pretty strong candidate on his own.

There is one task Romney must perform that is critical for a win. In fact, if it is all he does, it guarantees a win. I can sum it up in two words: Show up.

Obama sees politics as divided by race.

thus he has created an environment where white voters are going to be crawling over broken glass to vote against him.
