——If the government treats children like prisoners we shouldn’t be surprised to see prison social pathology in the form of bullying, social hierarchies ( alpha girls and boys) and in the formation of protection gangs ( cliques——

This hardly needs explanation. Has anyone seen or experienced school-level bullying in any other walk of life? Work? Play? Church? Shopping? The Rotary Club?

Many children live under the constant threat of violence. I attended a wealthy suburb with the proverbial “great school system” in the seventies. One small kid had his books dumped and kicked down the hall on a daily basis.

Does this happen at work?

He was discretely punched hard on the shoulder every day.

Does this happen to you around town?

I took a bloody nose for a mildly retarded kid who was being attacked by a pack of kids in elementary school. I turned away from the same situation in junior high, because the bullies were much bigger.

Yet the teachers looked the other way, as did I and the other students, to our everlasting shame.

No amount of judo classes would have helped this kid. He only needed to escape.

That people can justify this system of children’s prisons disgusts me, and I’m sick to death of the rationalizations.

And one more thing. One of my daughter’s 13-yr-old friends attempted suicide by swallowing a bottle of Tylenol due to school and Facebook bullying (”where’s your real mother?”). Another was hospitalized in a psychiatric institution for a month due to anxiety caused by bullying.

Yeah, keep rationalizing the free babysitting. /spit

Please read post #30. Apparently, I am not alone in my thinking.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

And....The cruelty dished out by and alpha girl can leave a child scarred for life.

And....Adults wonder why there is a generation gap, or that teens often have that spaced out and 20 degree off-centered stare, and answer in mumbles when spoken to? These kids are **ABANDONED** by the very people who should be be protecting them and rescuing them from this abuse.

I, too, saw similar instances of abuse that you described in your post. While, I was not a victim of abuse or teasing, I always knew that, at any moment, the maddening crowd could turn on me. Teasing, bullying, and alpha girl shredding not only harms the victim but every child in the class and school who is a witness to it.

On some level these kids **KNOW** that their parents **KNOW** that school is a hell-hole of a prison and that their teachers **KNOW** this is true as well. Why are we surprised then that many teens then reject their parents advice, turn inward, and look to their clique of friends ( their protection gang) for support?

NO NO NO studies have ever been done that **prove** government schools teach anything of academic value at all!!!!

It is completely UNKNOWN whether 100% of what is learned is happening IN THE HOME due to the massive AFTERSCHOOLING and PRESCHOOLING efforts of the parents; the child himself doing homework, projects, and independent reading and study; or private tutoring ( paid or unpaid) as compared to what is learned in the classroom.

Yes! I am shouting an jumping up and down!

Look at this video! We spend MORE on government schooling that parents pay in the HIGHEST PRICED and MOST EXCLUSIVE PRIVATE SCHOOLS and no one knows if government schools actually teach anything of academic value AT ALL!!!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JqskuKqJ6DQ

One thing is for certain, though. In any government owned and run K-12 school they WILL WILL WILL learn to think and reason GODLESSLY ! They **MUST** just to cooperate in the godless classroom. How could it be otherwise? How can that be religiously neutral or in conformity with the First Amendment???? Huh?

Spit? You bet!/ SPIT!
