U.S. Senate candidate Sarah Steelman is leading all Republican candidates in the most recent statewide poll. On June 7, the national Rasmussen poll of 500 likely voters found Steelman up 12 points on Sen. Claire McCaskill.
Steelman was the guest of honor Thursday at a neighborhood carry-in dinner party in Moberly. Steelman's supporters shared kind words with the candidate and enjoyed a relaxed evening of food and conversation.
Steelman said her platform focuses on a balanced budget amendment and capping the size of government. She said the government needs to stay out of the lives of businesses and families while getting the economy moving again.
Steelman said there is a distinct contrast between McCaskill and her philosophy of government.
"The difference between me and McCaskill is that she believes the government has the answer to everything and that more government spending or more government regulation are going to solve all our problems in this country. I believe the opposite. I believe in protecting individual liberty and freedom and we need to get government out of people's lives," Steelman said.

This is a good sign. If elected, Steelman will be a great Senator.

I am a supporter of Romney, even though I know a lot of people here hate him.
But every Republican president of my life time (Nixon was the first) would have been helped with conservatives running the legislature...and yes, that includes Ronald Reagan.
I think the current Oval Office occupant is erasing the notion that the activist, powerful executive is a good thing. The notion that the executive must be counterbalanced with a strong legislature is rapidly gaining weight with the electorate...the citizens see Obamugabe abusing his power (they didn't see Dubya doing that, by the way) and they want someone to say "STOP!" So, we had 2010.
This coming election may very well have a Republican President elected with a Republican legislature unlike the one we saw with Dubya...one where the power is more balanced--one with a moderated President but a more conservative Congress.
That'll be a good thing, if the Congress realizes their mandate.

When will we find out if Steelman will be running against McCaskill in November?
William Buckley said it best. We should run the most conservative candidates who can possibly win within the constituancy they’re running in.
The primary is on August 7.
The primary will be August 7th. I suspect we’ll know the winner that evening.
Sarah Steelman will be an absolutely wonderful TRUE CONSERVATIVE addition to the US Senate. If things go right this year, the next Senate will not only be led by a Republican majority but that Republican caucus could well be led by conservatives. We need to work hard to make sure this happens.
She has my vote!

Many offices are up for election, including MO Governor (Bill Randles is my guy), Lt. Governor, Secretary of State (Shane Schoeller is my guy), MO Attorney General (Ed Martin), and US House seats in addition to this US Senate race.
Missourians, get informed, get involved and vote on August 7.
There can be no conservative democrat, any Republican will be better than the most conservative democrat. The first vote cast for the House Speaker or the Senate majority leader is the most important and they will vote for a Reid or Pelosi everytime. A close election and electing a “conservative” democrat could do us in.

Missouri Democratic Senator Claire McCaskill’s three leading Republican challengers all now earn 50% or more of the vote in match ups with her.
This Missouri survey of 500 Likely Voters was conducted on June 7, 2012 by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of sampling error is +/- 4.5 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence.

Sarah Steelman (R) 51%, Claire McCaskill (D) 39%

Within the margin for error all the 3 leading republicans appear to be equal when compared to McCaskill
