I thought War of the Worlds was pretty good.

Great special effects, scary scenes, Cruise was believable in the role and did a good job.

Then again, I liked Battlefield Earth too, wish they would do a "Mission Earth " movie.

It was not awesome if you have any scientific knowledge of reality, and then realize that who ever wrote the script was not intelligent enough to screw in a light bulb. For instance if you remember when EMP destroyed his car starter. He put in a new starter and drove on. Well a car starter is the last thing that EMP would destroy. So it was just maddening. I can’t stand movies that are cheap on common sense and play on people being stupid. The script was written for one thing and that was to Showboat Cruise. It was so obvious. I will never watch that movie again. The black and white one was better.

The same is true with the new version of “The day the Earth stood Still”. The newer version had no sensible story to hold it together. It was purely about effects. And what a stupid ending.
