More than 100 jubilant college students and graduates -- some of them undocumented -- rallied in downtown Los Angeles on Friday in support of President Obama's decision to halt deportations of young illegal immigrants.
At the L.A. Civic Center, the demonstrators chanted, We are the Dreamers, the mighty, mighty dreamers and moved off the sidewalk and sat in a long train blocking Aliso Street, from Los Angeles Street to Alameda Street. They were also blocking entrance ramps to the 101 Freeway.
Celebratory chants and speeches could be heard outside the federal building at Los Angeles and Aliso streets after the Obama administration announced the policy that will affect young undocumented immigrants who arrived in the U.S. before they turned 16.
"Ain't no power like the power of the people 'cause the power of the people dont stop, demonstrators chanted. Others yelled, "Obama you can court us, but you can't deport us."
"This is a moment of celebration. This is a step forward in the right direction, said Dulce Matuz, 27, an electrical engineering graduate who attended college in Arizona.
"But we need to keep fighting for long-term legislation."
Effective immediately, young immigrants under the age of 30 will be allowed to apply for work permits as long as they have no criminal history and are not a threat to ...

OMG......... I’ll take that as a marvelous compliment. I thank you from the top of my cheesehead to the bottom of my beer glass.
We’re proud of Gov. Walker and hope others learn to stand up for our rights and not hide under their desks. Time to take our country back from the far, radical lefties.
If things keep going as they are, we will continue to surrender by default, apathy, and cowardice. But some civil breakdown might jump start a few patriots' hearts. Our side might actually WIN in such a state of affairs.
pRes_ _ent Obama is also cheered by Mr. RomneyCARE
and the feral RINOs who lied to conservative Americans.
The entire GOP is a WILLING accomplice to every single
episode of TREASON we have watched.
Anyone who hires an illegal should be placed in jail for one year,NO exceptions.
Rule by law not feelings.
“WWSWD”. Love this!
Pretty bad when you’re so unpopular you have to import voters.
That said: why do I have to obey the law when these people don’t?
Answer: because I’m white.
And when I complain, I’m a called a racist.
Hope the irony isn’t lost on anyone.
Ahem... If you haven’t already, it may be a good time to look into some kind of self defense strategy. This is not going to end well.
The people DO have a little power here...don't do business with those who hire illegals, and make some noise about it. Of course; that would require a little effort on the part of the people, and that seems to be asking too much.
In Congress Democrats tried to pass the Dream act Amnesty for illegals. Republicans in congress blocked it and killed this act.We all worked hard and long to defeat this Dream act because it was Amnesty for illegals. Now this Marxist, Monster dictator Obama passes what was in the Dream act with a decree. Unbelievable. And the media is covering for it.
communist, socialist, anarchists, facists, progressives and liberals unite we are at he dawn of a new age.
VOTE LIKE YOUR LIFE DEPENDED ON IT, BECAUSE IT DOES!!!
Isn’t the problem that Texas is now being transformed just like California was?
Unlike California Texas is not a welfare state. Over a third of all US welfare recipients reside in California, which has the most generous and liberal welfare programs.
So as California chases employers put of the state they encourage the importation of poverty. And the result is of Greek proportions.
You’re also getting more than your fair share of the illegal invaders. I’m not wishing it on you, I just hope the majority don’t get lackadaisical.
I live in Georgia...we passed Arizona style immigration reform last year and many illegals have fled the state. We also stepped up deportations.
So here in GA the past several years we have successfully passed and enforced:
- voter ID laws
- requirement to present proper identification (incl. birth certificate or passport) for issuance of driver’s license incl change of address
- immigration reform
Big difference is that in TX the folks there do not mess. Just ask the man that defended his small daugther from that child molester.
Well, if the Police were doing their job and arrest them
Actually, I wasn’t ‘slamming’ the Police.
I just had to use that kind of line to ‘set up’ the rest of the ‘dream’ scenario.
One of the threads someone suggested 1 yr in jail for all illegal immigrants...that will cost ‘us’ as much as letting them stay.
Maybe we give Panama statehood, construct a Federal complex much like Ellis Island used to be, process all illegals, and when through with them let them go and really crack down on them in Panama, then when they leave make them go through the hoops in Southern Mexico. while securing our Northern border.
You got that right, CA is going to be sadly, America’s version of Greece.
