Drachmageddon? Middle-class poverty. Feral Gangs. Neo-Nazis. Athens Waits For The Volcano To Explode
By Robert Hardman
15 June 2012
Antonis Perris was a devoted son. When his elderly mother was diagnosed with Alzheimers four years ago, there was no question of putting her in a state facility.
He would care for her at home in Athens and they would face the future together.
But then things started getting very much worse.
The problem is that I was not prepared when the economic crisis hit and I do not have enough money in my account, wrote the 60-year-old unemployed musician.
My credit card is overdrawn, we do not have enough food to feed ourselves. I live a drama with no end. Does anyone have a solution for me? World leaders, you who brought this financial crisis, you all need hanging! On the brink: Greeks will go to the polls again on Sunday, and the outcome of their votes will be critical for the country's future.
Perris wrote of his despair in an internet chatroom three weeks ago. Then, one morning, he led his mother on to the roof of their five-storey apartment block. Hand-in-hand, they jumped off.
Not long ago, this episode would have been a national scandal. Today, it is just another tragic footnote to the story of a society on the brink of collapse.
On Monday morning, this modern European nation could be waking up to a nightmare scenario, which runs as follows. The cash machines start drying up. Supermarket shelves are cleared by families fearful that food supplies will run out.
There are queues round the block for the last dribbles from the petrol pumps, and deliveries come to a halt. Within a day or two, protests have turned to looting and random acts of violence

Coming soon to a nation near you. :)
Preppers’ PING!
We’ve always posted TSHF parables and scenarios, now we know what shit hitting the fans actually looks like.
People jumping, not leaving. That’s what they did in 1929. Just jumped. Never occured to them to just leave.
This is not happening just in Greece, there are stories starting to come out of Spain as well and Italy isn’t far behind. How many countries can Germany prop-up before they too are swamped? Britain is and France are already so weak that the Islamist will over run them when the time comes.
Here at home we find that the corner three card Monte dealer is more honest than most of the Too Big to Fail banks and investment houses. And face it the Monte dealer who scams a few hundred is a thousand times more likely to go to jail that the banksters that are stealing millions.
The game is so rigged now that the fraudsters dont even know how its going to play out. We are head for some bad times, which is one of the reasons Ive been sounding the alarm. Its time that you either prepare to stand on your own beholden to no one or accept that you will be a serf dependent on others to provide your basic needs.
Check out Ferfal’s blog and Selco’s blog despite what so many think it is possible for a modern country to quickly fall into chaos! It’s happen before and it is happening now.
Our society has infrastructure has grown so complex and interdependent that it only takes a few pieces to break to bring the whole thing down. Gene Roddenberry explained it like this: “Our society is so fragile, so dependent on the interworking of things to provide us with the goods and services that you dont need nuclear warfare to fragment us anymore than the Romans needed it to cause their eventual downfall.
As for me I dont want to be beholden to anyone for providing what is needed for me and mine. I certainly dont want to have to kiss some gubberment third class bureaucratic to try and coax some help from them, I dont want some jack booted thug herding me in line and telling me where to stand, sit, eat or sleep. And last but not least I dont want to be shut up with a bunch of zombies and have to worry about not only trying to get basic necessities but having to fight to keep what I manage to get.
Some seem to think that prepping is foolish, so I ask you whats easier telling your children and loved ones why you prepared or explaining to them why you didnt?
But if any provide not for his own, and especially for those of his own house, he has denied the faith, and is worse than an unbeliever. 1 Timothy 5:8
But then someone has to stand on the bridge waiting for FEMA to bring them a bottle of water, an MRE and a warm blanket so as to provide the Network Anchors their background Money Shot. I wonder how that will workout for them?
I am not saying that things will turn Mad Max/Book of Eli, (With the possible exception of a brief time in a few of the larger big blue cities) but things could easily breakdown for 30 to 60 days during which basic supplies, goods and services stop, banking stops (No checks No Credit Cards, No Debit Cards so on...) now how many people do you think are ready for such?
And between those not ready and those who have always had the gubberment hand them everything what do you think the reaction will be?
Their reaction I think can be summed up in one of my favorite quotes:
Quark: Let me tell you something about Hew-mons, Nephew. Theyre a wonderful, friendly people, as long as their bellies are full and their holosuites are working. But take away their creature comforts, deprive them of food, sleep, sonic showers, put their lives in jeopardy over an extended period of time and those same friendly, intelligent, wonderful people... will become as nasty and as violent as the most bloodthirsty Klingon. You dont believe me? Look at those faces. Look in their eyes. Star Trek: Deep Space Nine: The Siege of AR-558 (#7.8) (1998)
For those who are just starting or are old hands at prepping you may find my Preparedness Manual helpfull. You can download it at:

NOTE! THIS IS A FREE DOWNLOAD. I DO NOT MAKE ONE CENT OFF MY PREPAREDNESS MANUAL!
For those of you who havent started already its time to prepare almost past time maybe. You needed to be stocking up on food guns, ammo, basic household supplies like soap, papergoods, cleaning supplies, good sturdy clothes including extra socks, underwear and extra shoes and boots, a extra couple changes of oil and filters for your car, tools, things you buy everyday start buying two and put one up.
As the LDS say When the emergency is upon us the time for preparedness has past.
Or as the bible says: A prudent man sees danger and takes refuge, but the simple keep going and suffer for it.
NIV Proverbs 22:3
Lastly this for the doubters and the scoffers.
There is no greater disaster than to underestimate danger.
Underestimation can be fatal.
What an OUTSTANDING post. No wonder you’re such a legend on this site.
And by the way, yes, something has to give here too, with our $1.6T deficits (10% of our GNP!) there is simply no way that can be sustained. The party will have to end here as well.
Monday ought to be a fascinating day for the markets. If nothing positive comes out of the election...just more chaos, then I think you will see a massive loss on the European markets, and the entire week will be miserable. The dollar will actually gain against the Euro....acting like like it was fifteen years ago (although it’s a fake strong, if you ask me).
Where could that man go? His problem is that he felt powerless to do anything about it.
World leaders might be responsible for this mess, but folks voted to enable the looters, who offered them promises of good times forever.

Could you give some links?
The european socialist model is what little barry bastard commie is trying to establish in America, where the number of government dependents insures the oligarchs have the votes of the dependents and the number of government employees spirals out of control witht he accompanying too generous pension debentures, all to be paid by the once sovereign citizens while the banking elite maintain their lofty oligarchical positions. If we relly want to trace the decline to the correct starting point, it is Jekyl Island.

Much of this is in my Preparedness Manual.
Nobody pays their taxes but they retie in their 50’s.
Now they want the world to bankroll that lifestyle.
Looks like some good links... Thanks!
And thank you for your Preparedness guide!
The #1 issue facing people in a situation like this is that they either have the skills to make their own way... or they don’t.
When I read of the pathos and misery the press in Europe loves to tout in their attempts to shame the Germans into spending the treasure of Germany to fund the cushy grifters to Greece, I NB one this: The people who are killing themselves, the people who are rioting in the streets, etc... have a common issue: They’re devoid of any skills in producing a tangible product. They don’t know how to make anything, they don’t have skills with which they can barter (eg, a doctor) etc. Their entire lives have been lived as effete parasites upon those who have taken upon themselves the dirty work of building a running civilization.
As such, I don’t shed many tears at their demise.
This, people, is evolution in action. Humans were not supposed to be specialists, the evolutionary niche of insects. Homo sapiens evolved to adapt rapidly to changing conditions and rather than have to wait for the genetic adaptation to environmental conditions, humans could change their environment.
The over-educated, over-specialized and overly dramatic sorts of people who abound in today’s soft societies seem to have forgotten this.
Where could that man go? His problem is that he felt powerless to do anything about it.
The only answer I have is location, location, location. Just like our American real estate. Why are some nations targeted for failure? To clear them out for colonization.
Everyone wants something for nothing. That will be the death of us all I’m afraid. Hang on tight. The ride is about to get very, very rough.
Here’s the answer to your question. Apologies to Bob Dylan.
“When you got nothing, you got nothing to lose.”. Just sayn’.
