It’s too late now. I’ve been out all day and I don’t understand this permission to record the call. I imagine it has something to do with holding them accountable. Can you explain the reasoning please, at the risk of me sounding incredibly stupid? Erghhh.

In some states, Texas being one of them, YOU DO NOT HAVE TO ASK PERMISSION. As long as one of the two parties on the line, know the call is being recorded, it is legal. You cannot record a phone call (with a hidden recording device) between to parties who are talking, and you are not one of the two parties. But, if you are one of the two parties in the conversation, you don’t have to even tell them it’s being recorded. That’s Texas. You might want to check your State Law regarding recording phone conversations.
