Well, I know that I had a better high school education than kids get in college, today.
When I was in 8th grade, I was assigned to do a term paper, 20 pages double spaced, using 10 different types of footnotes and a bibliography, on “The effects of the Monroe Doctrine on the US foreign policy during the pre-Civil War period.
My freshman year of college, we read were required to take a survey of religion course that covered everything from Angels dancing on the head of a pin to Paul Tillich. I’m told that most theology students have trouble with Tillich, Niebuhr, Beauregard. and others. This was a required freshman course in college.
sqrt(95.6484) is 9.78, but I fiddled a bit with the calculator (multiplication only) to get it (I did NOT use the sqrt function to find it, though).
You get the trophy for best guesser around.... ;0 ( but you have to wait in line to collect yours. the rest of the class got one too)
I remember when a high school diploma actually meant something.
