This is a bit analogous to portraying Bush as a fallen Texican at the Alamo, or as a Brit at Dunkirk. Just as McCain mocked the Tea Party activists as Hobbits, thus aligning himself and the GOPe with Mordor, it just underscores that a lot of GOP apparatchiks could benefit from cliff notes before making PR statements.
