The Lannisters who execute Ned Stark and his followers are also the most malevolent faction in the narrative. This is a bit analogous to portraying Bush as a fallen Texican at the Alamo, or as a Brit at Dunkirk. Just as McCain mocked the Tea Party activists as Hobbits, thus aligning himself and the GOPe with Mordor, it just underscores that a lot of GOP apparatchiks could benefit from cliff notes before making PR statements.

Not so much, as the Nazi war machine deliberately let them run away. I always wondered why they never got any credit for it. Probably because at that point it was already decided that Germany’d be firebombed to hell, and no soft feelings could get in the way.
