Arizona prepares to enforce strict immigration law
The Washington Times ^ | June 13, 2012 | Stephen Dinan

Arizona already is gearing up to enforce its strict immigration law as it anticipates a favorable ruling from the Supreme Court sometime this month, with Gov. Jan Brewer issuing an executive order Monday telling police to bone up on the details of the law.

Mrs. Brewer ordered that training materials produced to help police understand the law and its limits should be distributed throughout the state in preparation for a ruling. The materials, created by a state board that sets standards for all law enforcement, include a DVD designed to help police understand the circumstances that would allow them to question someone about his or her immigration status.

That power has been the most controversial part of the law, SB 1070, which Ms. Brewer signed in 2010 but which has been largely halted by lower federal courts as an infringement on federal powers.

In her order, Ms. Brewer said the materials need to “make clear that an individual’s race, color or national origin alone cannot be grounds for reasonable suspicion to believe any law has been violated.”

Among other provisions, the Arizona law requires police to check the immigration status of those they have encountered during their duties and have reasonable suspicion are in the country illegally.

Immigrant-rights groups and civil liberties organizations said SB 1070 would lead to racial profiling, but that has yet to be tested in court.

Don’t you think that they get away with this because they talk conservative on such issues as abortion, gun rights, family values and taxes? They may truly support these conservative issues in their hearts, I do not know, but there is more to being a conservative than just these issues. The old deadly sin of greed also comes into the picture. I hope Texas people catch on to these latter day patrones.

I feel very much the way you do. A neighbor of my daughter used to live in Texas near the Mexican border, she told me that they could not leave anything outside of their house. When she came up here she couldn’t believe how everybody kept wreaths on their door, kids toys and lawn ornaments and furniture outdoors without anyone stealing them. That says a lot.

As far as George Bush, he was the one who opened my eyes to the false conservatives called RINOs. Bush was on the side of the cheap labor and their masters. I hope the whole Bush clan fades into history.

Romney's father and grandfather lived in Mexico, maybe they were familiar with the dark side of Mexico and passed that knowledge on to Mitt.

Thanks. You’d think the whole notion of cheap labor being good for America would have been settled by The Civil War.

“Don’t you think that they get away with this because they talk conservative on such issues as abortion, gun rights, family values and taxes?”

That is why they have gotten away with it in the past...and that is why the Tea Party is so SICK OF THESE PEOPLE.

They talk the talk when they come home - and talk about how those ‘other Republicans’ are causing all of the trouble. But, back in DC, they do what they told to...and that usually has nothing to do what they promised, or what the grass-roots expected.

...but now they are starting to be held accountable, and we’re taking them down!!!

This freerepublic post says it all regarding Boehner and McConnell being the sellouts that keep appeasing their CFR masters instead of listening to the people. These two human mushrooms must have gotten the annointing from above (the CFR) in order to attain their high positions. Who in their right minds would have picked these clueless losers to be the leaders of the House and Senate except that they were picked precisely because they are clueless losers who can be ordered about by their puppet masters.
