Kanye West’s Air Yeezy 2 Sneakers Sell For $90,300 On eBay

On June 9th, Kanye West’s Air Yeezy 2 Sneakers will go on sale for about $245. But one lucky (crazy) eBay bidder decided to pay a premium price to get his shoes early. User pinoyako4life paid $90,300 for a pair of West’s new sneakers.

The shoes, of course, will be extremely hard to get once they hit store shelves this weekend. TMZ reports that people are already camping outside of stores for the shoe’s release on Saturday. Still, $90,000 seems a little excessive.

USA Today speculates that the ridiculously expensive auction may just be a publicity stunt. Other pairs of Air Yeezy 2 sneakers are selling for a few thousand on eBay. So why did this auction get so crazy? Did Kanye West pay $90,000 for his own pair of shoes just to create hype? Maybe it was some sort of performance art…

But let’s forget about $90,000 for a second. What makes the Air Yeezy 2 worth $245?

Nike Inc writes:

“Forging a new form of sport craftsmanship, the Nike Air Yeezy II blends classic Nike court breakthroughs with the performance and aesthetic demands of bringing hype to a crowd of thousands…. A primal, tactile approach to technology runs throughout every element of the Nike Air Yeezy II. Armored animalistic forms imbue the upper. Hand skived anaconda textured leather quarter panels are embellished with a debossed Vac-Tech Nike Swoosh. The molded rear is sculpted with a reptilian inspired spike, while an engineered strap with scaled down spikes was developed to offer a greater sense of symmetry and lock down.”

-on eBay some years back Billy the Kid’s original pistol holster had a high bid of over a million dollars- I myself bid $310,000.

Everyone and their brother, the seller included, knew it was an army issue 1911 holster. It went viral.

I doubt the seller ever got the money.

I doubt the shoe seller will, either :)

He probably paid the money himself. Just to hype up the new shoes.

It should be interesting to see how many people DIE for these shoes this weekend.

Yep. The 99% people have it hard. $245 for a pair of stinking shoes? I paid $50 for a good pair of Bostonian regular shoes and they have lasted over 6 years.

Tennis shoes? I had a pair of Hanovers that lasted for over 13 years before I left them at a college reunion meet.

My Spauldings lasted about 15-20 years including one dunking in quicksand.

I guess young blacks have nothing better to buy than an overpriced pair of tennis shoes. How about buying a book or too, assholes? The same for white black wannabees.

How about a trip to a library, a museum, an art gallery? Cheap or free and much more useful in life.

Don’t be a lemming and don’t complain about the white man having everything. A fool and his money are soon parted no matter what color they are. Don’t be a fool just to be cool.

What sport did Kanye West play?

I buy my sneakers for activity as well as style.

At least Air Jordans are endorsed by an actual ex-basketball player.

Not to sound like a smart-a$$, but if the shoes help you win at whatever sport they are built for, $245 doesn’t sound too bad, and I was just a citizen-racer.

Actually..........those are pretty cool shoes.

Anyone paying a dime over $110 is an amazingly foolish goofball of the first order. (I still don't believe that price......and can think of tons of other charities..)Oh wow....SO SAD
