Judge Roy P. Bean’s logic (once actually used in the case of the murder of a Chinese railroad laborer - or so the story is goes - details changed to fit the current case): “It’s against the law to kill a man. A sexual predator is not a man. Therefore, case dismissed.” After going through the deceased pockets, Bean then charged the dead individual the exact amount that the man had in his pockets for “court costs.”
Why would you choose one of the more disgusting episodes in American history to compare this too? Bean’s declaring that it was ok to kill a Chinaman (his word) because they weren’t actually human beings, is a far cry from the beating of a man caught in the act of molesting a four year old.
