Union workers in the Sharpsville Area School District cafeteria were the victors in a dispute with the school over what they could, and could not eat.
...
The grievance was based on the allegation that the school district violated established past practice in charging cafeteria workers for food or drinks that couldnt be sold or consumed by students. These items would include food or drinks with expired dates or foods that had been reheated, none of which can be served to students according to safe food regulations.

How long before one of the Union members gets sick from the food or claims to, and sues the school district.
Did they dive into the dumpster?
oh , it so much easier I bet and it could be open to fraud, but these are honest people. /s
Can they bring home all they wish?
They probably set the food aside and waited until it expired so they could take it home. Great way to grocery shop.
This creates a conflict of interest. Cafeteria workers will just cook more food every day than needed. All they have to do then is to let it cool off for a few minutes (to have it qualify as “expired”) and then reheat it.
Reminds me of when a Mess Sgt in Korea rotated out. All of a sudden, with a new replacement, the mess hall was serving steak once a week.
And Workers fighting to feed their hungry families?
I went into Winn-Dixie late yesterday evening to buy dinner. They had fried chicken that had been sitting under a lamp for a few hours so I asked the clerk behind the counter if they discount anything before they close. She replied “no” so not wanting to pay full-fare for dried-out chicken I walked away.
Walked by the same counter about 15 minutes later just in time to see the clerk dumping all of the unsold fried chicken into the garbage can.
Are you sure ? Can you recall anything made in a school cafeteria that you’d actually WANT to take home ???
