Sure apology gladly accepted. We have posted to each other about Elian Gonzalez before and his mango tree lawyer -lol.

Being an immmigrant who came by himself to America at same age as Elian, I was so ashamed of this country for the way it sacrificed this boy whose mother lost her life to give him freedom.

I guess you got my point about Sean Penn and the rest. One doesn’t have to go to Cuba to understand communism and its evils. And some who go never learn. I’m sure the people are wonderful as you say. Most folks are. Am glad you have good memories of your time there. Thanks again for writing back.

You can now revert to your usual off/day anger/tantrum - lol

P.S. Interesting that you have lived mostly in Panama. My stepdad was stationed there and loved it. I’ve lived over half my life in Hawaii. Similar climate, but we have better chicken coops. What do you think this country of 300 million should do about Panama?

“Sure apology gladly accepted. We have posted to each other about Elian Gonzalez before and his mango tree lawyer -lol.”

I was so awful to you. I do not deserve your kindness in anyway.

“Being an immmigrant who came by himself to America at same age as Elian, I was so ashamed of this country for the way it sacrificed this boy whose mother lost her life to give him freedom.”

From where? From Cuba? I would love to know although it is none of my business.

“I guess you got my point about Sean Penn and the rest.”

From what I have read several times here on FR, their hotel rooms have hidden surveillance cameras. LOL.

Maybe mine did too, but they would have been bored sick since I was not there to badmouth. I was there to learn.

“One doesn’t have to go to Cuba to understand communism and its evils. And some who go never learn.”

What I kept picturing in my mind was what a beautiful city Havana was before Castro. It definitely was gorgeous. But now, it had/has fallen into ruins. Parts of Havana look like some of those photos of Europe, especially Germany, during and after WWII…total ruination…buildings crumbling…holes in the walls where windows were at one time, etc.

“I’m sure the people are wonderful as you say. Most folks are. Am glad you have good memories of your time there. Thanks again for writing back.”

By now, a couple of generations have come to life and many don’t know the difference between then and now.

By the way, the Hemmingway bar I visited is called La Floridita. Hemmingway’s favorite drink was daiquiris. They were delicious. I kept looking up expecting Hemmingway to come walking in through the door.

“My stepdad was stationed there and loved it. I’ve lived over half my life in Hawaii.”

I LOVE Hawaii!!! I have been there twice. Geologically speaking, it is a most impressive place.

What caught me pleasantly by surprise was looking down from a hilltop and realized the Punchbowl Cemetery was built in an extinct daughter volcano.

It blew my mine.

“Similar climate, but we have better chicken coops.”

LOL!!! Okay.

“What do you think this country of 300 million should do about Panama?”

Nothing, nothing, nothing. Panama is on its own.

1. Panama has a copper mine going full blast.
2. It has two gold mines ready to exploit.
3. There is the expansion of the Panama Canal.
4. Petrol has been found leaking out of the ground near the Colombian boarder, which means we will have to share with Colombia.
5. There are more jobs (manual) in Panama than there are people.
6. Another new bank is getting ready to open.

This is totally amazing since Panama has only a little over 3,000,000 folks and not 300,000,000.

“My stepdad was stationed there and loved it.”

If I may ask, where was your stepfather stationed? Again, none of my business.

Not a day passes when I don’t think of Elian Gonzalez. What a tragedy.

Thank you for kindness against my rudeness.

Please keep in touch.
