On the heels of Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker's history-making recall victory, the governor of nearby Indiana with his own record of curtailing union benefits suggested public-sector unions are past their prime and should be abolished.
"I think, really, government works better without them," Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels told "Fox News Sunday," when asked whether public-worker unions should even exist.
Daniels had cracked down on collective bargaining for state workers as soon as he took office in 2005, six years before Walker and his GOP allies in the state legislature started down the same path -- triggering a backlash that forced him to stand for election this past Tuesday. Posted in post number 10. It lays out a great case against public sector unions.

For what sane reason are public worker unions even needed?
Other than simply siphon off money from the public treasury to fund their Democrat allies, they have no other reason to exist but to exert pressure ‘collective-bargaining’ and extort from the public treasury.
At least two past presidents, both dems, I think, Wilson? T. Roosevelt? and FDR spoke unequivocally about the unacceptability of "public emmployee" unions.
We all know where Ronald Reagan stood. And we also all know where The Great Destroyer of America and his party stand.
I am searching for the links and will post their exact words later.
Coincidentally, Fox News Sunday with Chris Wallace was on, Fox, with "guests" only representing the "Public" Employees Thug Unions only. It will be repeated later today at 11 pm PDT.
Recommended watching, because Chris plays the devil's advocate in favor of the unions with much more sympathetic enthusiasm, as hard as he attempts not to.
HOORAY Mitch Daniels! No public unions and a lot less public workers in a much smaller government.
DISMANTLE UNaccountable government bureaucracies (socialism). Let the workers find a job doing something productive...not something “progressive”.
FDR thought government worked better without them.
If it’s good for the fedgov, it’s good for the stategov.
