You know a friendship has gone sour when you start making mean jokes about your friend in front of his most bitter nemesis.
So it was a bad sign this week when the U.S. defense secretary joshed in front of an audience of Indians about how Washington kept Pakistan in the dark about the raid that killed al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden a year ago.

Exactly correct.
We need to get our guys out of Afghanistan before we go pissing off Pakistan. Our logistics to Afghanistan run through Pakistan. These guys yelling “NUKE PAKISTAN!” don’t get it in a major way.
Let India take care of Porkistan...

Nope. But Bush did some serious arm-twisting to ensure they would not actively interfere with our troops/efforts in Afghanistan. While it has been an uneasy "truce", Obama started washing away the sands of the foundations during his first campaign - he's just finishing the job now.
Support India instead.
Interesting strategy, but India is about as close to the US as it wants to be.
Closer relations are held at arms length by them, not us.
India buys quite a bit of advance weaponry from Russia.
Pakistan will survive by itself & doesn’t need us, but we do need the logistics capability there.
