It’s all about EGO. Most people become police officers because they’re 1) Too lazy to actually WORK for a living 2) Too STUPID to hold a regular job 3) NEED the ego-rush they get from the authority trip, the tin badge and the sidearm they probably will NEVER be able to use safely and/or shoot accurately. Further, most cops are UNION SCUM. They do not like the idea that Joe Everyman might be armed – probably better than they are, and probably can user their weapon far better than Barney can. We have kiddie porn dirtbags, dope pushers and gangs running the streets, and some – not all – cops don’t want to have an equal playing field with law-abiding citizens. They’d MUCH rather write the speeding ticket or the DREADED “rolling stop” *GASP* citation. Donut-munching un-American scum.
