An excuse only. There was no such leak and the USS Liberty was not the only asset active at the time. NO SUCH LEAK. The Israelis would have provided the specifics of the leak if it existed. This, however, follows the theory that the US was deliberately sharing information with the Russians to ease their anxiety concerning Israel’s intentions regarding their client state - Egypt. That excuse is justing feeding off of this theory IMHO.
The key phrase is the last word, “IMHO”. Your humble opinion isn’t worth as much as a connected intelligence officer in the Mosad who contributed to the book. There was such a leak; by you putting your assertion in capital letters, it shows you cannot fill in the blanks with knowledge. Your humble opinion thereby assumes less worth than even before.
The Mosad officer had no reason to lie, make a specious argument to justify and whitewash what happened. And if you believe that then your opinion of reality does not mean a whole lot either. Believe nothing that comes from the writings of people who have an agenda. I am telling you that any spy would not have access to real time information that was being gathered by SIGINT. If you have an understanding of the SIGINT process then you would understand why you just may be wrong and the Mosad officer is providing misinformation. I stand by my humble but informed and experienced opinion. How was the spy transferring the information to the Egyptians or the Russians from a Special Compartmented Intelligence Facility (the highest level of security on the planet)?
Once more, you are free to believe your Mosad agent and anyone else. Because you believe does not make it anymore than an opinion since you nor I were there. The book you refer to did not close anything (people like me know better) and if there had been a spy and the Israelis attacked without provocation in international waters, killing men who were doing their jobs LEGALLY, then we are back to the same conclusion - Israel: guilty as charged.

And like I insinuated, only a fool who knows nothing about the black arts would believe a Mossad agent quoted in a book made public. Simply put, you know nothing about Mossad or Shin Bet.
I will continue to hold the opinion I expressed as I know of no unbiased and honest historian who has given credence to your theory. You are more than welcome to hold to your own opinion. Neither one of us really knows the truth. You could be right and I could be right.
All the spies I have heard about stole only finished intelligence when it is distributed to a wider audience for use by those who need to know. Raw intelligence just simply is unobtainable given the close hold nature of its processing and the technology behind it.
