RIO DE JANEIRO (AP) -- A United Nations report warns that the earth's environmental systems "are being pushed towards their biophysical limits" and that sudden, irreversible and potentially catastrophic changes are looming.
The UN's Environment Program says that climate change, the depletion of the ozone layer, plummeting fish stocks and the mass extinction of animals are among the most worrisome environmental threats.

FR is slipping. Where is the picture of the 1950’s lookin’ dude holding his hand to his forehead and saying “not this sh*t again”?
I suggest the whole UN move to Brazil to closely monitor it, whatever teh current ‘it’ du jur is.
If something isn’t done quickly, every Leftist on the planet will have to commit suicide to reduce mankinds impact on nature.
There has to be a crisis to convince legislators that the middle class in developoing countries must accept a much lower standard of living with substantial financial penalties for their unsustainable lifestyle. People must see that it is for the greater good that their property and livelihood is reallocated to “environmental” purposes. They must accept that their individual freedoms are actually causing the crisis and they must step back into “sustainable” ways for the good of all and for future generations.
If there wasn’t a suitable crisis, there would be no need to rachet back. There would be no need for global government to direct the evolution; a cental global environmental eforcement arm; regional governance/ control by unelected bureaucrats, tribes and environmental NGOs; reallocation of vested individual wealth; investment and trade opportunities for ecosystem services and impacts on public “goods.” People like Al Gore and Bill Clinton couldn’t get richer.
UN: Give us your money and power now, or we are going to flip it!!!
