RACINE - The campaign for Racine Republican State Senator Van Wanggaard has not conceded victory to Democrat John Lehman in a recall election, but has said they are not yet asking for a recount.
We know that there are a number of outstanding absentee ballots, voting irregularities, and that there were problems across the county in the unofficial tally of ballots, said Wanggaard in a statement.
People across the state and country have asked that I immediately ask for a recount. However, we all know that the best decisions are made when well-rested and after consideration of all options.
If that result is made official, the State Senate would then have a 17-16 Democratic majority.
"The county board of canvass will go through all of that and certify the results to the state," Racine County Clerk Wendy Christiansen told TODAY'S TMJ4's Todd Hicks.
We will closely monitor the canvass of votes with legal representation. We will evaluate our options regarding recounts following the official count of ballots.," said Wanggaard.
"800 votes is enough to survive...I'll be unhappy if they put us through that," said Lehman to Hicks.
The 21st Senate district will not hold an election again until November, 2014. If Lehman wins, then the Republicans MUST pick up two seats this November to have a Senate majority for the next two years.
The 21st Senate seat is very important to Walker's ability to govern for the next two years.
To win the seat, yes, use every tool to achieve that result.
To drag it out, no. The Senate will not be in session again until next year, so "dragging it out" will accomplish nothing.
Vicki McKenna also talked to someone who claimed that they were accepting water bills addressed to OCCUPANT as evidence of residency for same day registration.”””
This alone is fishy.
I have been a full charge bookkeeper for over 35 years.
I have processed many bills for payment from companies as large as Universal Studios Phonograph Record Division to businesses where there is just the owner working, such as a machine shop or crankshaft grinder.
I have NEVER——I repeat—NEVER— seen any utility bill from any location addressed to “OCCUPANT”.
First off, you have to ID yourself & put down a refundable deposit just to get utilities turned on!!! Bills get sent to the responsible person at the correct address by the utility company!!!
IF any election official in ANY state in the USA is accepting such ID, this is a total travesty!!!
It must cease immediately.
Couldn’t agree more. Otherwise, they face the Soreloserman/Get Over It mantra from the rats
Well in Wisconsin they’ve fixed it. The next election will be held under the new Voter ID law passed during the first session of Walker’s administration
In addition to only 16 of the seats being up—and this not being one of them, of the 8 that the Dems control, three aren’t even being contested by the Pubs(only one of the Pubs has a free ride) which means that every seat counts.
This is a perfect chance to expose the democrap fraud and let the entire nation know what kind of cheaters and pathetic human beings the democraps are. It might help some independents vote against democraps in November. Decent people hate cheaters, it’s ingrained in all of us to despise someone who wins anything cheating.
I have tried to reach both the main GOP office 608-257-4765 and the number on Senator Van Wanggaard’s site - 262-260-8099. I left a message on both, asking the senator to please pursue this obvious fraud, ask for a recount and get all the election lawyers and investigators on this.
If you also believe we must take this opportunity to expose the fraud, please call and let them know it.
