Google bypasses 68 years ago, and the invasion of Europe to liberate it from totalitarian national socialists, instead choosing 79 years ago, and the first drive in movie theater for their day logo.

There are alternatives to Google.

Use them.

I do.

Google will go the way of Facebook.

Count on it.

You would think even lefties would commemorate D-Day, to them it was “The Good War”, with FDR in charge, and helping out their Soviet brothers, and all that, against the Fascists.

Today, if a general used the word “crusade” , he’d face a court martial for being insensitive to Muslims’ feelings.

Gen. Eisenhower addressing members of the 101st Airborne Division before D-Day Normandy

Nos genuflectitur ad non princeps sed Princeps Pacem!

Listen, O isles, unto me; and hearken, ye people, from far; The LORD hath called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother hath he made mention of my name. (Isaiah 49:1 KJV)

it’s on purpose to find the most trivial thing possible and celebrate it instead of D Day. They know it’d be more respectful to just commemorate nothing.

It'd be nice if Google had chosen to commemorate D-Day on it's web site, but how many other companies have done so? None of Google's competitors did, nor did any of the automakers, GE, McDonald's, Disney, on and on. Who cares?

Google's doodles aren't there to demonstrate their patriotism (though they did get the Fourth of July and Veteran's Day last year) - they're just interesting trivia.
