The Morphing Obama Biography and the Skeptics (a biography that can adapt itself)

An odd taboo has been created on noticing that the president of the United States has a biography that can adapt itself to the needs of the moment. Go too far in raising an alarm, and be labeled "birther" and shunned in polite society.

The credit for creating the "birther" label was claimed in 2008 by columnist David Weigel:

I think I originally coined the term "Birthers" to describe the people who think the state of Hawaii and its time travel machine are concealing the truth about Obama's birth on the roof of a mosque in Kenya. It's not just the reference to 9/11 "truthers" that I like. It's the callback to the John Birch Society, id est the "Birchers."

Weigel was also the most notorious "JournoLister." In case you've forgotten about that left-wing media cabal, this Daily Caller article described the JournoList's coordinated efforts to bury the Jeremiah Wright story during the 2008 campaign. (Although JournoList was disbanded in 2010, the mainstream media, in remarkable unison, have covered up the recent revelation that Wright was bribed $150,000 to keep quiet.)

The sarcastic "birther" post was written by Weigel long before the Breitbart discovery of the literary agency biography that claimed Obama was born in Kenya. That portion of the biography's claims survived for over 16 years through multiple other updates. Likely, many in the circles of publishing, Chicago politics, and Obama's college and early career days had heard or read about a Kenyan birth somewhere. Which leaves open the possibility that Weigel and his fellow JournoListers tripped over the story, or were slipped a tip, early in the campaign, and chose to utilize Alinksy tactics in case such tidbits oozed through any cracks in the preferred narrative.

Note that experts assert that the posted birth certificate is a probable digital forgery, or wonder if the White House was playing games in presenting such a strange document? Birther.

Ask whether Obama wrote his autobiography? That’s racist and birther.

Vote for the blank box instead of Obama in the Democratic primary? Racist.

Note that Obama and his attorneys ignored a court-issued subpoena, an Obama attorney asserted in a courtroom that even Mickey Mouse didn’t need to show a birth certificate to run for president, and that the media didn’t cover any of it? How birther of you !!

Actually, that's correct. The Constitution and federal laws provide no mechanism for verifying evidence of eligibility.

Constitutional government in its original form had no need for such evidence. The Electoral College was intended to actually elect the President. Obviously they would also verify the eligibility of the candidates. Of course, the EC never did function as intended, and quickly lost any relevance.

What's really weird is that not a single state has yet required such evidence be presented in order to be on that state's ballot.

For those interested in the truth, Obama was in the legal custody of Catholic Social Services of Connecticut from age 10 to 18 while living with his grandmother in Hawaii as a Permanent Resident Alien with Indonesian Nationality. Obama’s grandmother was his appointed guardian, commonly referred to as his foster parent.

In 1983, Obama naturalized as a U.S. Citizen. His Certificate of Naturalization is on file with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

Not that it would necessarily help.

There is no definitive ruling from the Supreme Court as to whether Obama’s situation (one NBC parent, one alien resident parent, born in USA) constitutes NBC.

Personally I believe it does, but without such a ruling on the definition it is not possible for Obama to “prove” he is NBC to register for the ballot of a state.

To liberals, the Constitution is a “living document” that evolves to match the times. To the far left, the Bible is an “obsolete relic from desert nomads” that should be revised for the modern era. It’s perfectly consistent that America’s socialists believe Obama’s biography should adapt itself to the needs of the moment. They know they are lying in all three situations, but communism is about advancing the agenda to support “a greater truth”, that we can and should be forced to be equal, and literal truth is a small matter compared to the absolute power they hope to attain.

It's not just these publishing house biographies. Over the past three years we've seen several (I used that advisedly, as in "three or more") archived news articles on here regarding Obama's state senate campaign or election, or stories about him during that period, which refer to him as "Kenyan-born."

These political reporters weren't reading publishing house biographies to get this information; the obvious source was the Obama campaign or press office.

I'm not saying he was born in Kenya, but it's clear 'Kenyan-born' was used as part of the Obama mystique until it became a political liability to say that, lie or not.
