Gwen Moore: Wisconsin Dems Have ‘Tremendous Ground Game"
Talkingpointsmemo ^ | 6/4/12

Rep. Gwen Moore (D-WI) extolled the Democratic ground game in Wisconsin in an appearance on MSNBC Monday, and said it would launch Democratic nominee Tom Barrett to a win against Gov. Scott Walker, defying conventional wisdom that Walker is a lock to stay in office.

“I do think that people have underestimated our ground game, and I think we’ve developed the critical mass of factors to lead us on to victory on Tuesday,” said Moore. “No. 1, Tom is surging with independents, such an important constituency for winning an election. Secondly, we have a number of switchers, of — you know in 2010, we had 60 percent of labor voting for Tom Barrett and 40 percent for Scott Walker. Now those numbers are 80-20, 80 percent for Barrett and 20 percent for Walker.

“And the 2010 voters, the Obama voters that didn’t turn out in 2010, we believe that we have used the few resources that we have, you know, not necessarily to do as much TV obviously as Scott Walker has been able to do, but we have a tremendous ground game that has targeted Racine, Beloit, Kenosha, southeastern Wisconsin, Milwaukee, 72 wards in Milwaukee, where there are numbers of Democrats who did not necessarily participate in 2010, and we have targeted them. And we believe that there aren’t any pollsters that are able to predict which of those voters, who are likely voters among those people that we’ve been able to touch.

I’m leaving from the studio here to go out and launch yet another group of canvassers that will hit maybe the fifth or sixth time these targeted wards. So we’re cautiously optimistic,” Moore said.

First of all, I would like to say that you can't just vote "R" tomorrow on the recall ballot. That is not an option. Secondly, I would like to remind everyone that you have to vote at least twice, once for Scott Walker and again for Rebecca Kleefisch. To not remember to vote for Rebecca could create a huge problem for Scott Walker down the road as the rabid Democrat who is running against her is the same firefighter who started the boycotts last year against small business. And, as long as that bogus John Doe investigation is going on, there is the danger that Tom Barrett's DA will issue charges against Scott Walker.

One thing I would like to say about this whole brouhaha that I've puzzled over since the beginning is that while many African Americans are government employees, very few have been present at the rallies or doing the work on the ground. I have no idea why they are disengaged, but it could prove to be a problem for Barrett, which is probably why the unions have been driving inner city Milwaukee residents to the polls for two weeks.

You can take a look for yourself at the absence of African Americans in the protest.

You are correct, I just watched Ed Schultz's show from Madison, WI, and his "audience" of about 150 were 99.9% white and all the women had beautiful hair, just like Nancy Pelosi, and most likely botox treatments also.

You’ve nailed it. She meant to extol the Democrat’s underground game.

Well I agree for one. I drive 12 miles here in Trinity County California to cast my ballot; haven’t missed an election since 1972 and don’t intend to start now. If you can’t get off your ass on election day please don’t bother at all.
Except for our excellent men and women who are in the service overseas or out of their home state.

I’ll know Walker won tomorrow when it is not reported by the MSM on Wednesday.

Before the primary I saw plenty of “Recall Walker” signs on my drives through southeast Wisconsin. I drove through the same area two days after the primary (when Walker got more votes than the Dems) and I saw all of two “Recall” signs. In contrast, PLENTY of “Stand With Walker” signs were out and prominent.
