But he loved white gravy, he put it on everything. Guess they did not have that in France. hee hee hee

Greens & Blackeyed peas are a tradition in the South but especially in TX for New Years luck. Tradition goes back to when many of the Southerners were starved out of much of the deep South.

Some of my ancestors were born in TX during the Republic, but more came from AL during Reconstruction. They were burned out for “resisting” the occupation by the carpetbaggers and scallawags. They went GTT

Prior to AL they had lived in GA & SC.

We lucked out as far as carpetbaggers taking root anywhere nearby, closest carpetbagger town was over a day’s ride away. The state government was run by them though.
