During the night of March 23, 2012, a researcher with the Center for Immigration Studies, a Washington immigration think tank, observed significant illegal activity in the Vekol Valley area that included 330 illegal entries, drug mules and an ultra-light plane performing a drug drop.
The observation came along 12-mile stretch of border in the Tohono O'odham Indian Reservation in Arizona and extending into the United States northwest about 80 miles to the Sonoran Desert National Monument's Vekol Valley on I-8 and about another 20 miles north of the interstate. The area of observation is owned and operated by the federal government with the exception of the Tohono O'odham Nation's border property.
The researcher, Janice Kephart, observed these same areas in a video series last year, “Hidden Cameras on the Arizona Border,” which show videos of activity in the regions where Maricopa and Pinal Counties share a border

The Vekol Valley is that area of southern Pinal County (Sheriff Paul Babeu’s AOR) that the feds have warned Americans to steer clear of because it is so dangerous. That is where the burned-out SUV with 5 bodies was found yesterday. That is where the Sheriff says the drug cartels have set up observation posts to protect their product as it moves north.
It’s very easy to believe that over 300 made it into the country w/o being apprehended. That happens every night, all along the border. It won’t be long...
If that were the case, there would be little problem.
We now have upwards of 20-25 *million* illegals in country. That equates to about 20 major cities, of one million each, filled with nothing but illegal aliens.

I don’t understand why everyone is making such a big deal over all this immigration and drug smuggling going on. We cannot have a WAR ON DRUGS without DRUGS. Get over it, we need these people and their merchandise, regardless of the circumstances and costs, so what if a few innocent citizens get hurt or killed, so what if they are bankrupting our schools and communities. The only thing that matters is that we got the Drugs and we can keep the War on DRUGS in full swing. After all what is the Alternative?? Close the Border

The bigger problem, are the OTM's that make up the bulk of illegal border crossings most nights...I wonder if Sheriff Babeu will remain as tough as he seemingly was before his ill advised Washington aspirations...we need a tough sheriff in that sector.
The Border Patrol Agents are busier as they ever been.
They simply don’t have enough guys on the line to catch them all.
Border Patrol Agents are the one’s in the boonies, hours from back-up and they take-down illegal aliens, drug smugglers and human smugglers. They are the one’s that take personal risks and sometimes suffer consequences from our own governments actions (Agents Ramos and Compean, and Agent Brian Terry for recent examples). My own son, a Border Patrol Agent, was involved in a shoot as well.
DC cut their AUO so they can’t put in the extra shifts and time they did before, and DC stopped hiring additional Border Patrol Agents—they now can only hire for attrition purposes.
The Boys in Green are doing a real job along the border, in spite of political interference from DC. Let’s not join the DC weenies and pile on.
