“Oh, cut the cops a break! They are just following orders.
That argument didnt hold water at Nuremburg.”
************************************************************
Well, you are correct—they weren’t “just following orders”. What they were doing was DOING THEIR JOB & CATCHING THE BAD GUY. Sometimes that causes some inconvenience. I’d much rather having cops doing good and actually doing their jobs (as these cops were doing) than have them do bad things (such as the goon cops in Wisconsin suppressing the exercise of free speech by pro-Walker demonstrator).
Let’s cut the cops some slack when they are after bad guys using legal means—and being successful.
God-given rights guaranteed by the Constitution, be damned. Catch the bad guys and [bleep] everything else. A police state is a safe state.
(Do I really have to /s this too?)
“Lets cut the cops some slack when they are after bad guys using legal means.”

I wondered if I read that line wrong the first couple of times. So its your contention that impromptu mass detentions in which no probable cause can possibly exist to detain *everyone* constitute “legal means” under state law and doesn’t violate the 4th Amendment?
Wow.
Rounding up innocent bystanders and handcuffing them all is not just "doing their job." THat is the very description of a POLICE STATE. (But then, some folks just love to slobber all over black leather boots.)
I think you should be concerned about the fact that they used illegal means on innocent citizens. They did a BAD thing when they for all intents and purposes, placed innocent people under arrest even if only for a short time.
You think suppressing free speech is a bad thing and I happen to think suppressing my freedom to go about my lawful business is just as bad if not worse.
