You’re exactly right. There should be no active investigation of any crime ever again.

Everyone should just be expected to go tell the police on themselves as opposed to the police attempting to solve the crime.

It should just be one person sitting in a small office waiting for all the lawbreakers to turn themselves in so that they aren’t all illegally detained for questioning because the whole process of a criminal investigation is actually unconstitutional.

I can see it now, with that new system, all the murderers and rapists and bank robbers just turning themselves sin for due process, and no police out there running roughshod over the constitution by illegally investigating things.

After reading all Your rants and little temper tantrums ,

You and the so called officers lack any knowledge of common sense.

Police may investigate. They cannot mass arrests of innocents. If the cops can't do their job without flagrant violation of the law, then they need to lose their badges at the very minimum, or face jail time for violation of civil rights.

It is not a fine distinction.

Grow up.

Ignoring the constitutional issue; which is huge, the police removed everyone ability to defend themselves. By handcuffing everyone, they prevented people from being able to protect themselves if something went wrong. If shooting started, the persons handcuffed would just have to sit and hope no bullet found their location. And when the shooting starts the police tend to miss more than they hit. There are very reliable ways to handle these types of situations, but handcuffing everyone in the area is one of the poorest ways.

You need to take up underwater basket weaving. You don't have the temperament for real police work.

Seriously. Before you hurt someone.

You seem a little weak on 5th amendment comprehension.

Apparently part of that is in place already. I'm old enough to remember when the police would investigate a burglary. These days they won't even file a report of one.

Throw us a sop, wouldja? At least pretend you care.

Yer a remarkably see-through troll.

I may even agree with your point of view; however, seems like you are here to hit hornets nests.

I think the problem is we have too much of a militarization of law enforcement. I think we need to get rid of SWAT teams or at least put them under tighter control. Local LEO's would go back to carrying revolvers and a 1970's era walkie-talkie and for the tough cases, a .30-30 lever action rifle and/or shotgun in the car. I'd disband the FBI or just use them for forensics and laboratory tests only.

Either that or go to citizen/volunteers for policing, compensate them for their time and materials. My idea, but a 1965 Ford Galaxie, put in a CB/VHF radio and off we go.

I think the powers that be are pushing the LEO's into this us or them situation, I believe most are good but you got the ones out there that would follow orders without question and thus bringing about a Nuremberg situation.
