Two of President Barack Obamas closest allies, former senior advisor David Axelrod and Attorney General Eric Holder came close to blows immediately after a Cabinet meeting, according to a new book to be released next week.
Only the intervention of senior adviser Valerie Jarrett prevented the two men from throwing punches, Daniel Klaidman claims in the book, Kill or Capture.
Politicos Mike Allen got an advance look at the book, which is due to hit stores on Tuesday, and revealed the altercation in the West Wing which started when Holder accused Axelrod of trying to place a political operative in his Department of Justice.
After the [Cabinet meeting] ended, Axelrod made a beeline for the attorney general, Klaidman wrote in the book subtitled The War on Terror and the Soul of the Obama President.
Obamas senior adviser was incensed. It had gotten back to him that Holder and his aides were spreading the word that he was trying to improperly influence the Justice Department. Axelrod, who knew all too well that even the hint of White House meddling with Justice Department investigations could detonate a full-blown scandal, had been careful not to come close to that line, Klaidman continues.

What a pantload of propaganda. Trying to make Holder out to be as pure as the driven snow to Axelrod’s “bad cop” act.
I doubt if either one can take a real punch. They both probably hit like girls.
Given the fact that the White House is currently populated almost exclusively by crass and egomaniacal morons, the only surprise is that such conflicts are not more frequent.
I agree with headstamp - it’s bullshit.
Both of them were on Queer Street before the match could even began.
What does one expect after all - David Axelrod is not one of Eric Holder’s people.
Yup, I can believe that in a certain way.
Let's see how tough they are when they end up in prison where they all belong.
Does anyone actually believe that Axlerod WOULDN’T
try to place some of his people at justice?
It’s dog eat dog up there and there are no gloves.
as in jobs?
I can almost picture it. Like a fight between Ernest T. Bass and Barney Fife.
Possibly, but I wouldn’t doubt it. These people are ALL egomainiacs ruling over their Obama-given fiefdoms. It would not shock me in the least.
You just know that they are always paranoid that someone will assist their journey to the south side of the bus and live in a constant hair-trigger state ready to fight for their political, and possibly actual, survival. Swim with sharks and all that...
Then there’s the fear that they may lose the protection of their office should the SHTF and the truth come out.
husein and jarret are loving every stinking minute of it, believe you me.
So was Berry dealing the blow?
She threatened to kick both their asses
But there is a wok and some soy sauce.
Oh puhlease. Sounds like someone is trying to cover Axelrod's rear as the truth about Fast and Furious comes closer and closer to emerging.
Many a failed ‘leader’ throughout history has intentionally kept his subordinates fighting amongst themselves for a number of reasons; entertainment being one of them. Classic narcissism. Fits the pattern.
So why was it the intervention of Jarrett and not Obama...that is if this really happened. Seems to me this is just more confirmation that the self-declared genius POTUS is more like a speechifying potted plant.
