As far as the $$$ goes, let's be realistic, no way do the Republicans want to take the blame for a government shutdown. Look at what it did for Clinton's reelection efforts: it was a HUGE plus for him that the GOP (through the MSM) falsely got blamed for it.
Also, WTH can really be done when the Senate is still under RAT control and is led by a true sh*tbag that won't let any budgetary bills on the floor?
The freak show is coming to an end, I believe there will be much, if not massive, amounts of improvement in nearly every facet of life once the circus is thrown out of town.
Glad you mentioned that.
When that showdown was taking place and individual House members were getting on camera and saying they wanted the government to shutdown, and many here were cheering them on, I and only a few were asking why they were not trying to pin the shutdown on Obama to force him to give in, rather than giving him a club to beat them senseless with and force them to cave to him, which they of course did, much like what happened in 1994. They learned nothing from history.
I kept posting in comments that the idea was to get Obama to cave, not to trap themselves so their party caves (again and again, so humiliating.)
