Houston is located in the conservative (red) republic of Texas.

NASA is run by Obama's crony Charles Bolden. Bolden is tasked with carrying out Obama's new mission for NASA in which "---he wanted me to find a way to reach out to the Muslim world and engage much more with predominantly Muslim nations to help them feel good about their historic contribution to science, math, and engineering."

This is the reason why Houston is getting shafted.

Houston, we have a problem.

Quit complaining or else even your fake shuttle will be taken away and sent to Riyadh.

Any Democrats in Texas?

Because they won’t be for long.

Osama knows he doesn’t have a snowball’s chance in hell of carrying Texas so why shouldn’t he show his contempt for the people of the state? It’s a lot like him having returned the bust of Chrchill to Britain.

I agree, the three states that deserved it most, were California, Florida, and Texas, in that order.

Texas should have received the one which was given to New York.

This was a big time slap in the face to Texas.

BTW, the first words from the lunar surface were not, "Houston."

It was "Contact light" by Aldrin. A few seconds later Armstrong said "Shutdown" and the engine was turned off.

Houston, We Have A Problem.

These 5 words alone should signify why Houston should have a real shuttle.

Only 2 other places should be in consideration for real shuttles. Cape Kennedy in Fla, and The Smithsonian in DC. Anywhere else lines up for leftovers or fakes.

The shuttle going to New York was the old one in the in the Smithsonian. The Enterprise was constructed without engines or a functional heat shield, and was therefore not capable of spaceflight. It was a test flight model.

Great solution, because we are Texans, living in Texas not Broke ass Kalifornia, or NY there is only one real solution. Hand the guy towing the barge $$$ and have him drag it back. Tell Bolden to stick it in his arse, or use it to foster better relations with the Muslims and send it to Dearborn.

Large rocket parts are commonly transported by ship or barge.

This should not surprise. Political influence and the space program aren’t exactly new to each other. LBJ used his political power to bring a space center to Houston in what was then totally Democrat Texas. No one then could have ever imagined TX would become the most Republican state (save possibly UT) in the USA.

Four shuttles

One to Washington (The Air and Space Museums)

One to So Cal (Where the Shuttle was born and built at the now gone No. American Rockwell Space Division, Downey CA)

One to Kennedy Space Center FL

One to Johnson Space Center (mission control) Houston TX

===== NY can have the mockup====

PS I grew up near Space Division Downey CA...

I use to have a chunk of scrap shuttle tile

Also got to have a meeting of an aviation group I was with at Space Division around 79 in the room with full size Shuttle mockup...

We had free access to Shuttle mockup at that meeting all night...

We climbed all over that thing for hours, all taking turns in the the pilot seat on the flight deck

Barry just figured that Texas got Colombia in 2003 so they didn’t need another real shuttle....
