Of course pesticides & herbicides are organic. So are GMO foods. The nuts have hijacked the word to try and make it mean something it doesn’t mean.

Any carbon-based molecule is organic. CH4 (methane) is the simplest organic molecule. Petroleum products are all organic. So is cyanide.

I agree with your main point.

However, it’s not entirely true to state that “any carbon-based molecule is organic”. True, the study of chemistry is divided between “inorganic” and “organic” — but, there are other classifications.

The term “organic” suggests an origin in living organisms. There are a great many abiotic carbon molecules — i.e. not organic. /pedantry

I understand the science of the definition of the word “organic” but the new commercial definition, as different as it is today, has meaning. There are less neurotoxic ingredients in USA ogrganics than in non organic.
