I thought that too until I experienced Manhattan and did a lot of reading about the history - especially lower Manhattan.
I am an upstater born and bred and had never thought I would see the day I changed my mind.
Good for you. I’m glad you like it. But, I would submit that there is a helluva lot more difference in lifestyles between NYC and the deep south than there is between NYC and upstate NY.
