Washington, D.C. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid issued the following statement after the Labor Department announced that the U.S. economy added 69,000 jobs in May.
"This report is a sharp reminder that Democrats and Republicans should be working together to strengthen our economy, create jobs, and put the middle class ahead of partisan politics.
"If Republicans worked with us, we could pass legislation immediately to cut taxes for small businesses, prevent student loan rates from doubling and ensure women get paid the same amount as men for performing the same work. We could provide incentives to companies to create manufacturing jobs here at home, instead of overseas. And we could take steps to spur further growth in the housing market.
But all of these policies require bipartisan cooperation, something that, sadly, has been in short supply. I hope my Republican colleagues will take this as an opportunity to work with Democrats for the good of the middle class.

Idiot Harry cannot ever remember that it was the RATS that put the student load rate reduction expiration date into their bill and passed by their party. So in his liberal addled mind, it is all the GOP's fault.

Well said. If a term limit for senators was 6 years and staggered every 2 like they are now then those in their 5th and 6th years would be the seniors. Maybe they'd actually get something accomplished for the country.

Harry has a very short memory. When the democrats were in charge of everything for the first 2 years of the Obama administration, unemployment was about 10%. Once the republicans began halting the liberals plans, things started to get a tad better.

"He and the Dems are going to do that during the election Nov 6. Didn't you see the thread about the DOJ telling FL to stop purging the voter rolls of the dead and the illegals?"
No surprise there. I'm not sure he can count on the dead vote this time around.
