The widow of President Ronald Reagan says she is firmly behind Romney. And she says that her "Ronnie" would have liked Romney's business background and what she calls his "strong principles."

In a statement issued after the Romneys' visit, Mrs. Reagan said she believes that Romney has the experience and leadership skills that, in her words, "our country so desperately needs."

From another article:

She said that her late husband, Ronald Reagan, would have approved of a Romney presidency.

"Ronnie would have liked Gov. Romney's business background and his strong principles, and I have to say, I do, too," Mrs. Reagan said in the statement. "I believe Mitt Romney has the experience and leadership skills that our country so desperately needs, and I look forward to seeing him elected president in November."

Ronald Reagan on the importance of political compromise(in his own words)

"When I began entering into the give and take of legislative bargaining in Sacramento, a lot of the most radical conservatives who had supported me during the election didn't like it.

"Compromise" was a dirty word to them and they wouldn't face the fact that we couldn't get all of what we wanted today. They wanted all or nothing and they wanted it all at once. If you don't get it all, some said, don't take anything.

"I'd learned while negotiating union contracts that you seldom got everything you asked for. And I agreed with FDR, who said in 1933: 'I have no expectations of making a hit every time I come to bat. What I seek is the highest possible batting average.'

"If you got seventy-five or eighty percent of what you were asking for, I say, you take it and fight for the rest later, and that's what I told these radical conservatives who never got used to it.

No, he would not have.

Maybe you're right. But there is always the slight chance that she knew her husband better than you.

Salve

I respect that lady very much. Alone, without husband, but she is still classical madam.

Merci

Nancy Reagan is almost 91. To see her mouthing Willardbot talking points that were pushed on her is sickening. I grew up with Ronald Reagan and he’s a large reason why I’m a Conservative. Willard is the ANTI-Reagan. A dishonest, chronic liar, fraudster, con-man, megalomaniac, sociopath & incompetent leader and a Socialist (raised as one by his Reagan/Conservative hating parents). He proudly championed the fact that he did not support Reagan. RR is rolling over in his grave at this abomination.

Yes, I do. Willard is everything that Reagan NEVER was. He couldn’t hope to be him in 100 years. Forcing a 91-year old widow to mouth talking points from Willard’s shameful campaign is DISGUSTING !

What about Reagan’s own words I posted in post 4?!

I bet if Ronald Reagan would run for president today, you would call him a RINO.

You mean there’s a difference between the twins Willard & Zero ?

I love seeing 91-year olds being shamefully manipulated by liberals. More vile actions from the Willard campaign. They know no bounds of shame.

You like seeing 91-year olds being forced into mouthing campaign talking points for a leftist ? Doesn’t sound very Christian to me.

You don’t know Ronald Reagan, and you certainly don’t stand for his values and principles. Watching you Willardbots over the course of 18 years simultaneouly deride him, praise him and deride him again (rinse & repeat) as it suits your needs is disgusting. Ronald Reagan had a name for people like Willard (and his slimy supporters). He called them “Democrats.”

Ronald Reagan was a very smart man.

I think his wife is probably accurately reflecting the decision he would make when presented with the two nominees for president.

I certainly would show her some respect, not trash her as a doddering old fool like they did to her husband.

You should try being less vile when discussing her. You won't pick up many votes for Obama around here by attacking the mental capacity of Ronald Reagan's widow.

And who is feeding you your talking points, the Obama campaign? They might as well be, the way you are insulting Nancy Reagan, they couldn’t do any better.
