“Winston Churchill said that a young person who is not a liberal has no heart and an old person who is not a conservative has no brain. Do you think his assumption that experience can teach people and change their outlook is wrong? I will gladly entertain the possibility that ex-Democrats may become more conservative. Not everybody is on auto-pilot. Some people reflect and reconsider.”
I think Churchill said if you are 30 and not conservative . . . :)
Actually, White Mississippi Democrats have had almost nothing in common with the Democrat party for many years. We have relatives there who are both Democrat and more conservative than me—and that’s not easy. They vote R in national elections. But the local politicos are Dems and just as conservative as my relatives.

I think the quote is:
If you are 20 and not a liberal you don’t have a heart. If you are 30 and not a conservative you don’t have a brain.
