Massachusetts Senate candidate Elizabeth Warren claimed at an event in 2011 that she was the "first nursing mother" in New Jersey to take that state's bar exam. The Boston Herald reports:
“I was the first nursing mother to take a bar exam in the state of New Jersey,” Warren told an audience at the Chicago Humanities Festival in 2011, in a video posted on the CHF website. When asked how Warren knows that, her campaign said: “Elizabeth was making a point about the very serious challenges she faced as a working mom — from taking an all-day bar exam when she was still breast-feeding, to finding work as a lawyer that would accommodate a mom with two small children.”
The Herald goes on to point out that women have been taking the bar exam in New Jersey since 1895, and a spokeswoman for the New Jersey Judiciary says she is "not aware" if the state tracked the nursing habits of those taking the bar.
The unverifiable claim is only the latest from Warren, who is challenging Republican Scott Brown for the U.S. Senate.
Warren has also said, both on the trail and in her professional life, that she descended from Cherokee Indians, but has been unable to back up this claim with any facts. Now, according to William Jacobson at the blog Legal Insurrection, a group of Cherokee people have started a website (and a Facebook page) called "Cherokees Demand Truth from Elizabeth Warren." The group's message to Warren is, "You claim to be Cherokee. You forget, it isn't who you claim, but instead, who claims you. We don't claim you!"

What could Warren possibly say next? First pregnant woman to do X, first menstrating woman, first menopausal woman, etc.?
She is going to milk this claim for all it is worth.
Of course it’s not true. As the Herald said, women have been taking the Bar in New Jersey since 1985. Do you mean to say that in the late 70s, when she took the Bar, she was the first woman to take the test who was breastfeeding.
By the way- I am the person who tipped off the Herald about this three days ago. I idly picked a Warren speech on Youtube, and her nursing claim popped up within the first couple of minutes.
Reporters should really check out all of her speeches on Youtube. No doubt there are dozens and dozens of whoppers by Warren.
At Cadwalader she earned “an astonishing amount of money” that she used to get braces, she said. By the time she received her degree in 1976 from Rutgers School of Law in Newark, New Jersey, she was expecting her second child, Alex. After Wall Street firms showed no interest in hiring a pregnant recent graduate, Warren said she worked from home, writing wills and doing real estate closings for “anyone who came in the door.”
How could she have been nursing a child when she found out she was pregnant just before she graduated and was still pregnant while looking for a job? Most people don't wait 9 months after graduation to take their bar exam and don't get jobs on Wall Street until they have passed the bar.
Why stop there?
Pretty soon (tomorrow maybe) we’ll all know she is the original Eve.

What is amazing is there will be people who will still vote for her, the truth be damned!

Actually, I believe that she was the interim drummer between Pete Best and Ringo but her work on the snare and cymbals was stiff and uninspired. However, she was unparalleled at the tom-tom.
So you walk into the NJ Bar Exam with a screaming newborn infant that you must breast feed?
And everyone there administering and taking the test is OK with that?
I can’t imagine making such a ridiculous claim.
Warren is becoming the female equivalent of Jon Lovitz’s pathological liar character on SNL, Tommy Flanagan. What’s next will she claim to be married to Morgan Fairchild?
